Run. Don't. They're monsters. So are you. I gasped for air as I hid inside a cave, hidden by shrubs. I collapsed on the floor, out of breath. What was chasing me?
"Look at me." A small voice said. I shot around to see who it was. It was a girl. She was small and frail. Hey eyes were big and grey with hints of silver. Her hair was a light brown with white highlights. Like the wolf at the Firefly Festival. I realized.
"A-are you that wolf?" I croaked out. She nodded which I didn't expect since I didn't specify which wolf. "Why are you hear?" I asked in a half-whisper voice. Whatever was chasing me could be here any second now.
"Shh." She held her finger to her lips and pulled me deeper into the cave. I looked down at her cold wrist. It was so pale against my tanned skin.
Footsteps. No, pawsteps. Right outside the cave entrance. I was frozen in spot until I heard them leave. I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding. "Thank you." I breathed to the wolf girl.
"No problem. I should be thanking you for sparing me. I'm Omega." She tried her best to smile but it was like she almost couldn't.
"June..." I said and started taking in the place. It was a small, drafty, cave. Where the only light came through the cracks in the shrubs and hole in the ceiling. In the corner was a makeshift bed that was a knitted blanket over a sleeping bag. I looked back at Omega. She wore simply a pale blue hoodie, jeans, and sneakers. I could easily tell that she was lacking sleep and food.
"Are you okay?" I blurted out.
"Define 'okay'." She shrugged. "I wasn't named 'Omega' for nothing. I also am the omega of the pack."
"So they make you stay here?"
"Heaven's no. This is just solitude. They put me here because I didn't bring you back. I just used the excuse that I didn't know you were you." She said gesturing to me.
"Why did you let me go?" I asked. If Wolves wanted Golds dead for whatever reason, why didn't see take me back to her tribe? It would of at least gotten her out of being the omega wolf.
She opened her mouth to explain but the steps came back. "Let's ask the runt!" I heard on of them shout from outside.
"Escape through the ceiling." Omega said before transforming into her small wolf. The Wolves chasing me before came bursting in.
"There she is! Get her!" I scurried through the hole in the rocks, but not before hearing the sounds of growls and a thud. Omega.
I woke up with a gasp. It all felt so real. The fear was still clinging onto me as I realised I was in my cabin. I looked down beside me. Pheonix's back was facing me. His warmth was keeping me from freezing of fear. Omega? Was she real? It felt like she was. My heart and soul wants to say so. Yet it was only a dream. Suddenly, pain exploded in my right side. It had spread so much over night. It felt like a thousand tiny needles were poking at my skin. I winced as I tried to move.
"Kitten?" Phoenix's hand held my arm. While my right side was dying, it felt like my left was bursting with electricity. "You okay?" He asked, his voice all husky.
"Mhm." I nodded and slowly fell back down. I wanted to make a mad dash for the bathroom but there was no way I would make it without crying in pain. Phoenix's arm was welcoming but I couldn't ignore the pain spreading. Seeking to be noticed.
"Hey guys I-oh!" I heard Iridescent say. "I-um-I-um..." She stuttered.
"Iridescent! Wait!" I scrambled up and practically fell in front her.
"Are you okay?" She asked and knelled down.
"Ow," I groaned and flipped onto my back. "just fix my damn side." I huffed before my body went to sleep. I guess I hit the sleep button when I fell.
Pain. I hate it so much it's painful. I blinked open my eyes and I was in bed with a hospital of medication on the nightstand. On my chair sat Phoenix. His head in his hands and unaware I was awake. I propped up on my right elbow, which was now a dull throb, and sent a little pulse at him. His head shot up and his eyes locked on me.
"You're not dead." Were his first words before lunging forward and hugging me.
"Not yet, anyway." I muttered. "Why would I be dead exactly? I get I must of worried you but did you really think I was going to die?"
"Maybe." He laughed and let go. It was obvious he had shed some tears while I was out. That made me feel better somehow. How he cared so much to cry what could kill him. Hypothetically speaking, of course.
"Where's Iridescent?" I asked pulling the blanket off.
"Packing some food and other last minute things." He said and played with a paper clip from my desk.
"Like?" I asked as I slowly got up but still managed to stumble.
"Stuff to help with that." He pointed the paper clip to me. I stuck my tongue out at him before closing the bathroom door.
After refreshing myself, also known as washing my face with freezing water, I trudged back out. Phoenix was now entertaining himself by taking deep breathes before quickly puffing out fire. I smiled and shook my head. "Here. I got a new game yesterday." I said and handed him my phone before headed back to the bathroom with my clothes.
"You wanna be a guy or girl?" He called out.
"Girl." I answered back as I changed into my jeans.
"Too late." I sigh in frustration and start changing my shirt.
"This guy because who pays in apps...?" I here Phoenix babbling to himself. "When the... press now...Jesus! My parents are old!" I snickered, now checking my eyes. Yup, still gold.
"Plot, plot, plot." Gasp. "Husky! Heck ya am I catching you!" Okay, that's enough. I stepped out of the bathroom to see Phoenix hunched over and tapping away.
"Tell me, why are we friends again?" I ask with my hands on my hips.
"Because you're the best of the best. Also, everyone is currently in a coma. How am I supposed to catch this!?" He sounded so sweet at first. At first.
"Okay, that's enough for you." I grabbed the phone out of his hands and shoved it in my pocket.
"But-"
"No buts." I held up my finger and slung my backpack over my shoulder. "Now, let's go find Iridescent." I grabbed my violin case and walked out the door.
"If you weren't so important I would strangle you right now." Phoenix said grumpily and followed by my side with his backpack.
"I hate you too." I turned my head and gave him an award winning smile. One that looked sweet as sugar yet completely different from the words before. Our relationship could be described with that smile.
