A week later...
"Tomorrow is the day." I said to myself in the bathroom mirror. Danny and I moved out of the cave to our own little hut. One that was basically another version of mine back in the other tribe. Just bigger. Pro: I get more privacy and a bathroom I don't have to share with everyone. Con: It's farther from the hut where the others are.
"June?" Danny called from outside.
"In here." I said back and tied up my hair. I also had my usual clothes washed and now them smelt like lemons! I stepped outside and Danny was a tall lump under the blanket. "Gee, I wonder where Danny went. Guess he won't get his goodbye kiss." I teased and slowly opened the door.
"What!?" He shouted and sprung out the bed. The blanket fell to the ground as he scrambled over to me. I gave him a quick peck on the lips. "How was the bridal shower yesterday?"
"Fun. We did stuff that I shouldn't mention to anybody else." I smiled as I recalled what happened.
"What did you do?"
"Stuff. I'm gonna go eat dinner with the others. See you tomorrow. Bye!" I said and grabbed my coat off the hanger. "Oh," I said when I was half out the door. "Don't forget to pick up the blanket."
"Yah yah." He waved me off. "Don't do anything crazy."
"I won't." I promised and left.
I knocked on the hut door and pressed against the side of the hut. "Hello?" Bear said and looked around.
Before he could see me, I sprung out and yelled, "Boo!" He jumped back and put his hand to his chest.
"You scared me, kid." He chuckled before giving me a quick hug. "I can't believe you're gonna be married tomorrow." He said with a smile.
"Thanks. I can't believe it either. I so did not expect all of this when I first got in the car with you."
He laughed. "That's life for ya."
"Jason! Over here!" Isaiah called out and waved his hand in the air.
"See ya, kid." He gave me a playful push to the arm and went to Isaiah. I spotted Phoenix against the wall with his thing that he was making for me. From where I was, all I could see was him scribbling something down with a pencil.
I trotted over and when he saw me, he shoved everything into his jacket and pressed his arm against it. "You saw nothing." He said.
"Hi to you too." I said and sat down beside him. When I looked over, he was looking away at the window. "Are you mad or sad?" I said and leaned forward to see more of his face. His eyes seemed dimmer than usual and lacked the carefree spirit to them.
"I'm tired." He simply said.
"Then sleep." I suggested. "I can always talk to Iridescent or someone else."
"I don't want to."
"Than that means you're either sad or mad." I concluded. When he didn't say anything was when I started to get annoyed. "You on your period or something?" I joked which got a small twitch from his lips. "Come on. Talk to me." I persisted and shook his arm. It got him to face me which was progress. What he said after...wasn't.
"June, I'm sorry but can you leave me alone? Please?" June. He called me by my real name. There was a flash in eyes but I didn't care.
"Alright." I said, heart completely shattered, and then got up. "I'm gonna go get dinner." I faintly pointed to the door and started walking. The others gave me confused looks as I walked back out into the cool air.
