"Can we stop here for lunch?" I ask Iridescent. There was a pretty decent clearing up ahead and for breakfast I had an apple.

"Now?" Iridescent glanced back and asked.

"Look, I don't know if you don't have to eat as much as a fairy, but I know I that if I don't eat now, my stomach will eat itself." I argued and she sighed.

"Fine. Half an hour, I also need to record our steps."

"Yes!" I cheered and took off my backpack as I sat down at a tree trunk. I rested the back by my side and opened it.

Lunch today was a filling slice of bread along with half a banana, the other half was for Iridescent.

"Bread. Yum." Phoenix said and took a bite of his own slice.

"Hey, we can't eat too much in case our exploration is longer than expected." Iridescent warned.

"How long are we expecting this to be?" Charlie piped in.

"A month at most." Iridescent said ignoring what he really meant.

"At least a week." I answered and Iridescent gave me this look. "What? The kid should know." I shrugged. When I was twelve I already like a mini adult. Mom had work in the evenings so I had to cook dinner on my own and just learned how the world worked myself.

  "June?" Iridescent said coming over.

"Yah?" I said and finished my bread.

"Here is a map of the forest. At least, what your dad and Jason got to see of it." She handed a piece of paper that obviously had been through some rough times. I scanned over it and we were only made a centimetre, or two, of progress. Great. The Wolf tribe better not be on the other side of the forest.

"I'll copy this into my journal." I nodded and took out the leather book. I opened it up and grabbed the pencil in my pocket.

For the rest of lunch we drew the map as Phoenix and Charlie talked to birds. Apparently, Charlie half knew what they were saying. I'm surprised Phoenix didn't know more as he was I don't know... a phoenix. Then again, phoenixes don't really whistle songs. Screech is more like it. Like some hawk. Guess Phoenix is special than if he is a phoenix that can whistle. "June?" Iridescent waved a hand in front of me.

"Hm?" I blink and turn to her.

"You can stare at the back of Phoenix when we're walking. Right now though, we need to get this map done."

"Right. Sorry." I wasn't staring. Just lost in thought... That's all.

Walking. Walking. More walking. Did I mention walking? We did a lot of walking. Finally, I gave up. "Wanna play a game?" I blurted out.

"Sure. What game?" Iridescent said in a voice as exhausted as I felt.

"Let's play the Word Game. You say a word then the next person has to say a word starting with the last letter of the previous word." I explained.

"Sorry, you lost me at: next person says a word." Phoenix shook his head.

"Let's just begin." Charlie said. "Can I go first?"

"Knock yourself out." I say and brush my fingers past some low leaves.

"Word." He said. Can we get a round of slow claps for Charlie right now? Just... the imagination. It's nonexistent. "Go, Iridescent." He said after.

"Okay, um, D... Dog?" My God. I regret suggesting to play this.

"Alright, my turn." Phoenix said like an excited child. "G... G... Gorilla." Getting there. "A, kitten." I could hear the smile on his face.
