I looked over as Jack held Genevieve. "Having fun?" I asked him.

"Yes, actually." Jack said.

"I can't wait when they're older. We're gonna have all sorts of fun." Alex said.

"We're?" I asked.

"Yeah. I'm Uncle Alex. That's Uncle Jack. I just kinda figured that we were gonna be around." Alex explained. I laughed.

"No, I know. You will be." I said.

"Okay, you scared me for a minute." Alex said. Kellin called me so I walked outside to answer it.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hey babe, I miss you like fucking crazy." He said.

"I know, I miss you too." I said.

"DEZ!" Jack shouted. "KELLIN'S WALKING!" He jumped around while watching Alex hold Kellin.

"Lemme guess, Jack and Alex is there?" He asked.

"Yeah, why?" I asked.

"You've been spending a lot of time with them." He said.

"I get lonely when it's just me and the kids around the house," I said. "I need some of my friends."

"Dez, you have friends other than them. Why don't you spend time with them?" He asked.

"They're busy. Alex and Jack is all I have practically." I said.

"Dez, I don't like you hanging out with guys." He said.

"Excuse me, you're the one who told them to keep me company while you were gone." I said.

"Yeah, but I didn't mean every fucking day."

"Whatever." I hung up and walked back inside.

"Everything okay?" Alex asked. I looked over at Jack, who was still jumping around crazily.

"Fine." I said, walking upstairs.

Alex's POV

"Jack, watch Genevieve and Kellin." I said.

"Okie dokey." He smiled. I walked to the bathroom where Dez was. I knocked on the door.

"Dez, let me in," I said. She unlocked it. "What's wrong?"

"Kellin doesn't want me hanging around you or Jack anymore." She said, crying.

"What? Why?" I asked.

"I don't know." She said.

"I'll leave then." I said, walking out. I got to the bottom of the stairs before she hugged me tightly.

"No. Never leave. I could fucking care less what Kellin thought. You're my best friend. I don't want you to leave because of what Kellin said. I'm not listening to him." She said.

"So am I gonna be a secret now?" I asked.

"Absolutely not." She laid her head on my shoulder.

"What's going on here?" Jack asked.

"Nothing, I just wanted a hug." Dez said.

"No hug for me?" Jack asked. She unlatched from me and went to Jack.

"Of course you get one." I smiled at her.

Stop Alex. You can't have feelings for her. She has kids and is married. You're just her best friend. Kellin was missing everything. Their first words and their first steps. He was missing it all.

"Alex?" Dez asked.

"Yeah?" I said.

"You okay? You're just staring at the floor." Dez said.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I smiled.
