Chapter 3

The bell rang and the class was chaos. Kids were pushing each other around and racing out the door.

Henry and I were the last ones to get out of the classroom.

"I'm really not looking forward to the-" I started but collided heads with someone before I could finish.

The person I just rammed into and I both dropped our things. I bent down to pick them up.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry." A girls voice said.

Once I grabbed all of the fallen objects, I stood back up to be face to face with Grace Smith. The most popular and prettiest girl in school.

"Uh, no problem. Um, here's your, um, stuff." I said and mentally face palmed myself. God, I sound stupid, I thought.

"Thanks." She said as she took her belongs from my grasp.

Henry looked at me with a look that said, go-for-her. I rolled my eyes at him as he walked away with a grin.

Grace looked back at him while I rolled my eyes, "That your friend?" She asked.

"Yeah." I answered.

Her eyes went back to me and landed on the bump on my forehead.

"Oh my god! What happened to your head?" She asked.

"Oh, just an accident in gym." I said coolly.

"Did Hudson do this to you?" She asked me.

I looked down, "Uh, yeah." I said.

"Ugh, he can be such a jerk sometimes." She scowled.

"You mean all the time." I said.

She laughed and nodded. We both stood there for a few awkward seconds, looking at each other. This was the longest conversation I've had with a popular kid, and I didn't want it to end.

"So, are you going to the towns anniversary banquet?" She asked, breaking the silence.

"And watch people give speeches for five hours? Wouldn't miss it for the world." I said which gave me a laugh from her.

"My dad works for the city, so I pretty much have no choice." I said afterwards.

"Cool. Well, maybe I'll see you there." She said with a smile.

I smiled back, "Well, I have to talk to old Mrs. Miller. I'll see you around... Aiden, right?" She said as she began to walk into the classroom.

I nodded, "Bye." I said and quickly walked to my locker.
