Chapter 24

With Lloyd/Cole. Lloyd's pov.

The day soon became night, and all light was hidden from view. The trees were so thick and full, that they blocked out every beam of moonlight trying to break through. The temperature dropped greatly as well, and we soon grew tired. We stopped in a clearing and set up a small camp. After we had a fire going, we each grabbed a granola bar from my backpack.

" Man, it's cold." Cole said, pulling at the hems of his hoodie sleeves.

" Yeah, it isn't summer anymore." I told him, almost laughing. " Wonder how the others are holding up." I said, taking a bite of my crunchy, peanut butter granola bar.

" Probably sitting around a blazing fire, Jay making a small fireworks display." He said, smiling.

" What about Zane?" I asked.

" Probably thought the weather isn't cold enough, and jumped into the lake to meditate." He said. We both began laughing until tears came into our eyes. I yawned and rubbed my eye.

" I need some sleep." I said, lying down in the dirt.

" Same. But I should stay up, keep watch." He said. He jumped up and pulled down a good sized branch. " Got your Bowie knife on you?" He asked.

" Never leave home without it. " I said, handing him my small knife.

" I'm gonna carve myself a spear, then I'll patrol around the perimeter of camp." He said, getting comfortable against a rock.

" Alright......Night, Cole." I said, yawning.

" Night squirt." He said. I soon fell asleep to the sound of the fire crackling and the sound of Cole carving himself a weapon.

Lloyd..........A voice rasped quietly, awakening me. I sat up and looked around in the darkness. I heard footsteps growing closer and closer from behind me. I stood up and grabbed the backpack.

" Wish you told me we were leaving out early, Cole. I would have patrolled for a bit." I said, turning around. Someone stood only a few feet infront of me, breathing heavily. Two beedy red eyes glared at me evily. It wasn't Cole, but rather.........living bones.
