Missing- My 2014 Halloween story

Chapter 25

With Jay/Kai. Kai's pov.

A piercing shriek echoed through the forest, waking me up. I shot up and looked for Jay.

" Jay? You hear that?" I asked, throwing fire into the firepit to give me some light. Jay was missing. I got up and scanned the perimeter of the campsite. He was nowhere to be found. Probably had to use the bathroom or something.... I thought, sitting back down. I heard a faint meow coming from a bush a couple of meters away. Two yellow eyes peered from the bush. I smiled. A cat, how cute. I thought as the little creature emirged from the bush.

" Hey little buddy." I said, letting him sniff the back of my hand. He sniffed it, and began rubbing his head against my hand. I chuckled and pet his head.

" You're a cute little thing aren't you?" I said, smiling. The cat began purring loudly, and crawled into my lap. He curled up and fell asleep. Won't Jay be surprised?? I thought. I put my head back against the tree and soon fell asleep.

Back with Lloyd/Cole. Lloyd's pov

I began backing away slowly, but with every step, the creature grew closer and closer. Lloyd...... the creature hissed. I reached for my Bowie knife and felt nothing. Cole still had it. I kept backing up until I hit a tree. The creature kept coming. I jumped to the side as the creature made a swipe at me with his boney hand. He touched the tree, and it rotted away, the leaves turning a dark-brown, the limbs decaying to dust. I looked up just as a branch snapped free.

Someone pulled me out of the way of the falling branch just in time. The branch fell and landed ontop of the skeleton, smashing it. You will pay for this....The skeleton's voice hissed, and it was gone. I sighed.

" Thanks." I said gratefully. No one was there. I stood up and looked around. Nobody was here.

" Cole?" I called. No response...Except for evil cackling.
