Chapter 7-Telling Mum

Riley's POV

I sit down at the table for breakfast with James, Mum and Mia."So, I heard you two are getting along quite well," Mum says, looking at me and Mia."Yes we're besties!" she cries as I look at James, raising eyebrows."What's that look for?" Mum asks.

"Can I speak to you, alone." I say to Mum and we walk into the lounge.
"Is everything OK?" she asks.
"Mia tried to get me kicked out of The Next Step by lying to Miss Kate and I really don't like her I don't know what she's up to but she's putting on an act cos at the studio she's really mean to me."
"Oh Riley, I'm so sorry I didn't know, I'll phone her mum to see if she can pick her up."
"There's, there's something I need to tell you."
"What is it are you OK?" I take a deep breath. I have no idea what her reaction is going to be like.
"...I'm pregnant."
"Pardon? Did I just hear that?"
"Yes."
"Who did this?!"
"No it's fine I..." She goes into the kitchen where James and Emily are talking.
"James," she says.
"Mum sto..."
"Riley, you're too young to have kids."
"I'll be nineteen by the time it's born it's fine."
"You're getting rid of it aren't you?"
"No..."

"Ugggh do you know what you can move out with James and raise your kid see if I care !" She pushes me to the ground and storms upstairs.

"Riley we're going," James says, grabbing my arm and pulling me out the door,"We need to tell Miss Kate that you can't dance for Regionals."

James's POV

I drive to The Next Step and I see Miss Kate in her office.
"James it's good to see you," she says,"Is there anything I can help you with?" I look at Riley and she looks nervous.
"I can't dance for Regionals," she says really quickly.
"Why are you OK?"
"I'm...I'm pregnant."

"Oh congrats!"

"I'm really sorry that I won't be able to dance."
"It's fine I hope to see you soon then."
"OK thank you." We walk down the corridor and get in the car.

"I can't believe she was so fine with it!" Riley says.

"I know so do you wanna move into this house that's opposite to mine and my mum says she'll pay for it."

Emily's POV

I hear someone at the door and it's a random women.
"Oh hi, I'm here to pick up Mia," she says. Mia probably heard as she ran out the door. Well that was weird. I go to Mum's room and she's sitting on her bed and she looks really stressed out.
"Can you believe Riley did that?!" she says.
"More like can I believe you did that."

"Why is everything on her side?!"
"Because she's just well...got a point she's your daughter aren't you excited to be a grandmother!"
"No actually."

"Why?"

"When you were born Dad said one was enough so technically Riley was a mistake."

"And..."
"And he was furious when I refused to get an abortion so he divorced me before Riley was born."

"OK tragic story but what's your point?"
"My point is that since then I have never liked the idea of birth."
"Look, Riley's boyfriend, unlike Dad, wants a kid, it's a different person, you're just being selfish!" I then walk out the room and go into my bedroom.
