Achi
I looked at the dress laying on my bed, "You've got to be kidding me..." Red and black, thankfully not pink, and COVERED in glitter and ruffles. "I'm not wearing this."
"I'm sorry miss, but the king has ordered me to dress you in it."
"Then I guess your going to have to disobey." I scoffed at her, this is bull shit.
"Ma'am please, I need this job."
"Let me guess family at home and your the only one who can work?" She promptly nodded. Great, curse my conscience.
"Fine." She smiled putting it on me and doing my hair. "Do you have to do my hair though?" she looked at me through in the mirror and nodded. I only sighed, curse my heart. sometimes I just want to stop it maybe then I wouldn't feel.
"All done Miss." I looked into the mirror surprised at the woman I saw, I don't think I've ever seen myself without messy curls and dirt on my face. I reached up and touched the flower tiara in my hair, I looked cute.
"Did you have to add the flowers?"
"Kings orders."
"You did a good job, tell anyone I said that and I'll have your hide." she giggled. We might end up getting along, I liked her for whatever reason, she acted like she wasn't afraid of me at all.
"Thanks, whats it like?"
"What?"
"Going on a date with him, I mean he is the king after all-" she seemed off in another world so I let her continue. "He's never announced a date with a girl, let alone have anyone other than staff stay in the castle. How did you do it-" She seemed to never stop.
"Look, all i want is out of here, He's not courting me, and this is just because I lost a bet. I just don't get how you guys go gaga every time you see the royal assness."
She paused for a minute before bursting out in laughter. "I don't google after him, I'm already betrothed, I just don't see anyone catching his eye."
"Just Great."
"Oh its time for you to go to the ball anyways, I'll see you soon."
"Yeah, yeah whatever." I got up and walked out and down the hall where she told me to go. When I got to the doors I took a breath, here goes nothing.
Then I remembered something I'd suppressed deep in my mind for years. I had been here before, I'd failed to kill him, he was my teams first target. He was the Iron King.
Well shit.
Bal:
The ball started off like every other one, guests arrive,a butler announces every one off Them, and then I come in. Every girl comes to all for a dance, usually I'd dance with Them, but tonight I was only going to dance with one.
Suddenly the music stopped and she was announced, every man in the house looked at her, not surprising to me, she was the most beautiful woman here. I was taken back by her beauty, obviously she was beautiful, but here she looked perfect. Her doll like appearance made her the most wanted woman alive. As I approached her I could feel every aweing eye turn to envy as I pulled her to me. Every girl wanted her position, every man wanted mine.
The music started again butnothing changed every eye was still on us.
"You look beautiful Achi." she seemed to blush momentarily.
"Thanks..." she brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. "Don't think ahead of yourself though this is still only because I lost a bet."
I chuckled, she looked so conflicted like she wanted to run out of here and kill me and try to enjoy it all at the same time.
"Relax, it's only one night. If you still don't like me I'll let you leave if you want." I thought she'd be happy to hear that but it only made her look more torn. "Care to dance?" Her eyes only widened.
"No, no I'll stay here in good."
"Just come on." I graves her hand and pulled her on the dance floor.
"Your not going to like what you see."
"Nonsense, relax and dance."
She shook her head and I led her on, her hand on my shoulder, mine on her hip. Slowly as we went her shoulders relaxed and she danced. There was something so familiar about the way she did it. I matched her every move, soon the slow tempo changed and we where in a tango, a twisted one, but a tango none the less.
I felt like I've danced like this before, almost like a sparr in between the two partners. Knowing you could take them at any moment but they could take you as well. Why is this so familiar?
"Your not bad, why do I feel like I've been here before Achi?" She didn't say a word only danced, I knew better than to think she was lost in the rhythm by the look on her face she was hiding something. Then it clicked.
I spun her in close to not raise any suspicions as the song ended I died her and whispered in her ear.
"You where the white mask."
"Told you you wouldn't like it." she smiled a nervous smile.
"Come with me," and I pulled her along out of the ballroom and away from the palace.
