Tapping your foot against the tile floor, you tried your best to think positively. You thought about puppies, rainbows, winning awards, Kyoya's kiss... When his lips were pressed against yours, your heart beating rapidly, the blush on your cheeks.
"Here's you tea," Kyoya interrupted your thoughts. He noticed your flustered expression and tilted his head. "Is something the matter?"
"Nope," you answered before occupying your mouth with your beverage. It was a silent plea for him to change the subject.
Fortunately, Kyoya was in no mood to tease you. You couldn't tell what you preferred: a worried Kyoya or a teasing Kyoya. Ever since your manager dropped you off at his apartment, you had been quiet, as was he. The panic he heard in your voice over the phone had him on edge, and when he met with your manager, his smile lacked any sincerity.
It wasn't like him to fail in fake sincerity. He had a life calling of an actor after all. However, seeing your manager acting so innocent must have set something off in him. He didn't want to be polite to her, and it was the first time you had seen such reluctance.
"How was all the attention at school?" you asked lowly, a sad attempt to change the subject.
He took a moment to understand what you were referring too. "During class?" You nodded and he sighed. "It was unnecessary. I did notice you staring though."
"Oh... I just thought you would sit with me," you mumbled.
He look at you with disbelief, causing you to become defensive.
"W-What? Aren't I your girlfriend?!"
Kyoya chuckled, "You are. I was just shocked you stated your true feelings."
Crossing your arms, you glanced away from him. "Isn't that what couples do?"
Amusement spread across his face. "I had this preconceived notion that we were different from normal couples."
You sent him a bitter smile. "No, I think it's just me being emotional right now. I know I won't hear any of your feelings."
He placed his chin on his fist as his face remained stoic. He studied you intently while pondering on what to say. "I... have always been a problem solver. It has been expected of me throughout my life to deal with crises efficiently. I am an Ootori after all." He paused, though you couldn't tell if it was because he was hesitant or attempting to keep his emotions leveled. "I have always felt an obligation to solve the problems of people around me if it could benefit me. Though, when I noticed that you were upset over the phone, I felt this new sensation... I wanted to solve your problems. It wasn't that I needed to; I wanted to."
You blinked slowly as you sat there in shock. You could feel a fatal blush adorning your face, and your blank expression said it all. You were absolutely flattered, amazed, dumbstruck, and much more. You wanted to say something and pretend like you weren't affected, but your mind had shut down and abandoned you when you desperately needed it.
Noticing his lips curl into a smirk, your heart almost jumped right out of your chest. You detested how smug he looked, how handsome his features were, how silky his voice was, how intellectual his demeanor was. At the same time, those were all the qualities you loved. God, this man was frustrating.
"My, my. I feel like I should share much more to acquire that reaction," he joked.
"As always, Kyoya," you finally were able to speak, "you are a sneaky man."
He hummed in response. "And as always, [Name], you are an interesting woman." Without another word about the subject, he turned to take out a folder from his briefcase along with his laptop. He handed you another folder with the same information and his tablet.
