Author's Note: The dress is made by Elie Saab, and the award show that the reader attends is something like the Oscars. (I don't know if it's legal to use their award shows, and since it isn't as accurate as what really goes on, I'm going to omit the award show's name.) Enjoy!

Tears ran down your cheeks as you thought of the worst. Luck has long left you alone to deal with life's whimsical misfortunes. You weren't expecting it to be on your side, but that didn't mean you would give up hope.
Your brother was a tough son of a bitch, and he was going to pull through no matter what. Well, that was what you believed. You just hoped you were right.
"In here, Miss [Name]," the nurse called out once she spotted you.
You rushed into the conference room as your brain jumped to every conclusion possible. When your eyes landed on Doctor Stone's somber expression, your emotions erupted. Arms stretched out, you jumped at her with every intention to inflict physical pain.
"What the hell did you do?!" you screamed as your nails dug into her neck, sliding down to form red lines on her skin.
The woman gasped before letting out a screech. She stepped backwards, though fumbled in her heels and staggered to the floor. You went down with her, head crashing against hers during the impact of the fall. The pain made her instinctively push you away, scratching your jaw in the process.
If it weren't for Jess being present, you would have landed a solid punch on the woman's face. "[Name], stop!" she cried out as she pulled you away from Doctor Stone. You weren't thinking straight and struggled against her hold.
"You killed him!" you yelled, "You're killing him, and I trusted you!"
"H-He isn't dead!" Doctor Stone defended herself. "Please, listen to me. I'm trying everything I can to save him."
"You're a liar!"
Jess, being surprisingly perceptive of the moment, cut in. "Your brother is alive. So why don't you listen to what she has to say?"
It must have been the twilight zone, seeing Jess become the voice of reason. She had to be if you were going to be irrational. Straightening your form, you tried to regain your mentality.
"I... I can't lose him," your voice wavered.
It must have been Doctor Stone's greed for you incoming revenue as she easily accepted your simple excuse. "I understand your sentiments," she forced out. "Assaulting a doctor, a long-time friend at that, doesn't help your brother's condition though."
You refused to apologize. "What is his condition?"
Doctor Stone dusted her work dress and lab coat first. She delayed giving you information, but she supplied it once she grabbed his chart. "There's a set of organs that we can receive for your brother."
Your eyes widened. Were they going to be merciful and allow your brother to live? Did they finally understand how evil they were being?
"Yet, your brother's bloodwork isn't up to UNOS standards. They won't allow him to have the organs," she finished in a grim tone. "I'm sorry, but your brother has to continue waiting."
You couldn't allow another physical altercation to happen. Balling your hands into fists, you swallowed your agitated scream. "W-What isn't to their standards?"
"His white blood cells are low for one. They don't think the organs will survive in his body at the moment. He has to wait until he's more stable for another one."
