Stay With Me

Chapter 6

"Nina, babe." Ian rubs my back gently and I open my eyes to find him bent down in front of me.

"Baby I'm leaving for the meeting at work, I'll be back in a few hours and we will head out." He says and I nod my head closing my eyes again.

"I love you." I feel his lips brush against mine and I wake up. I wrap my hand around his neck and keep kissing him.

"I love you." I smile.

"Go back to sleep, it's only 6 in the morning." He smiles.

After I hear him leave, I fall back asleep. Until Candice comes running into my room and laying down beside me.

"Candice, why are you awake?" I groan moving my pillow over my face.

"Give me your hand." She says. I lift my hand up and she grabs it. She places it on her belly and I move the pillow of my face.

"Why is my hand on your...woah! What was that?" I say not moving my hand away from feeling the movement.

"The baby! She's moving!" Candice says cheerfully.

"Oh my god! That feels so weird!" I say.

"I know! But it's the best feeling too!" She smiles wide.

"I'm so happy for you Candice. You're going to be such a cute mom." I tell her and she lays her head on my chest.

"When are you guys leaving to Louisiana?" She asks.

"Ian's at a meeting for a few hours and then once he gets back were heading out." I tell her and brush her hair with my fingers.

"Are you nervous about meeting his parents?" She says.

"Not yet. I probably will be when we pull up to the house." I laugh.

"I was nervous the first time I met joes parents. But now I love seeing them." She says.

"I stayed at his house a few weeks ago and his mom face timed us, she can't wait to meet me." I smile thinking about that night. His mom is extremely sweet.

"I need to get out of bed and take a shower so I can finish packing." I groan with the pillow back over my face.

"Nina, there's only a month we have left together here. Are you going to move back to Toronto?" Candice sits up and stares at me.

"I don't want to. But I can't afford a place on my own. Mom said she'd help me but I don't want to take her money." I say looking away.

"I'm sorry. I wish there was something I could do. I don't want to lose my best friend. Especially when I want you here for the birth of  this little one." She says placing her hand back on her belly.

"I guess I should start wishing for a miracle then." I lean over and throw my arms around her and we both laugh.

A couple hours later I'm zipping my bag up when Ian comes up behind me wrapping his arms around my waist and kisses my neck.

"Hi baby." I smile turning myself around to face him.

"How was your meeting?" I ask him.

"It was good. I got a raise. A really good one." He smiles.

"Good! That's great!" I smile and kiss him.

"It is." He says and sits down on my bed.

"I just finished packing our bags. I'll make us some snacks to take on the road so we don't have to stop so much." I tell him. He pulls me back towards him and smirks.
