Taylor shrieked silently and streaked to Mariana as she dragged the blade over her skin.
Drops of blood dripped into the goblet, and Taylor snatched the blade away before she thought of doing anything else. She was about to kick the goblet but Mariana cried out and clutched her head, dropping to the floor.
Taylor crouched down and put a hand on her back. "What did you do to her?" She snarled at the Fairy King.
He just walked to the goblet and picked it up. "I didn't do anything, my dear." He answered, squeezing his hand into a fist so blood dripped into the goblet.
"She did it all on her own."
Mariana squeezed her head in pain, but finally relaxed and went limp, leaning into Taylor.
Taylor opened her mouth to speak, but just then, the gags and rope tied around Scarlett, Rydel, and Merlyn all broke and they came rushing over to Mariana.
Scarlett was hysterical. "I knew I should've told her! I knew it! I should have been more supportive of her choices, more defiant to our parents, more protective! Oh my God, I hope she's not dead! It'll be all my fault!" She wailed.
Rydel and Merlyn just crouched down next to her, shaking their heads. They all turned to face the Fairy King.
They stood and Taylor gently laid Mariana down, standing with her friends.
"If she's dead because of you," Taylor began, "so help me, I will make sure you dies an agonizingly slow death that will make you wish you would be dead!" She spat.
The Fairy King laughed. "She's fine! It's been locked up for years- it won't come out painfully! Look." He pointed to Mariana and they turned, seeing her sit up. Scarlett was there first.
"Mariana! Oh, Mariana! Are you okay? Are you hurting? Please tell me you're okay! I'm so sorry I didn't tell you! I wanted the moment to be right, but I was scared! Oh, Mariana, I'm so, so, so, so, so, so sorry!" She cried, hugging her sister.
"Wait... You- You knew?" Mariana choked out, shakily rising to her feet.
Scarlett whimpered. "Mom and Dad told me to stay away from you- to be careful. When I was ten, I asked why and they finally gave me an answer besides 'It's complicated'. So they explained that they used something called 'Enchanted Blood' to have you. But it... They said it corrupted you, made you inhuman- a monster. But I never believed them." Scarlett added. "And I never will."
Mariana shook her head. "I can't believe it." She hissed. "You knew and you never told me. When, exactly, were you planning to tell me this? That I'm- I'm not normal? That I'm a monster?" Mariana snarled, her anger rising.
"I was planning on telling you when the moment was right. Preferably your 18th birthday." Scarlett admitted weakly.
"My 18th birthday?" Mariana roared. She clenched her fists and the room started to shake slightly.
"Mariana, calm down." Taylor advised. "Your powers are new and dangerous."
Mariana whirled on her. "Why? So that the monster in me doesn't do anything wrong? What makes you think I don't like this? What makes you think I'm not happy to let my rage free? What makes you assume I want to be careful? To not finally let out all these demons I've kept hidden?"
"Because it's not you, Mari!" Taylor replied. "And you're no monster, nor do you have any demons!" Taylor snapped sharply. "You're special! I don't know what exactly this is- magic, or whatever- but I do know that it's a part of you- the real you. Not the you that your parents tried to make by trying to douse the special flame that burns brightly inside you. Because guess what? Those idiots failed- no offence." Taylor directed to Scarlett.
