Mariana was panting so hard. She was both mentally and physically exhausted. She didn't know how long it has been, but the Fairy King was constantly throwing things her way. From tennis balls to swords.

It was terrifying, really. Mariana couldn't really control her powers. The only time she would was when he threw a sword, and even then she just threw it away from her.

She was getting better, though. That she was proud to say. She was able to focus on an item and hold it for a few seconds before she dropped it.

Of course, the Fairy King would continue launching item at her she was forced to dodge.

"Oh, this is ridiculous!" The Fairy King cried. He mumbled some words and a book came flying. Mariana tried to jump out of the way, but she was frozen still.

Mariana shrieked and closed her eyes, trying to lift her hands to her face but failing. Mariana had never felt more exposed.

There was a thump and Mariana opened her eyes so see the book on the opposite side of the room.

The Fairy King smiled. "Well done, Mariana dear." He laughed.

Mariana just started at him. He chuckled at her and Mariana fell to the floor, the thing restraining her dropping its forces.

Mariana was still dumbfounded. She did that? But... But it was so easy! She thought, confused.

The Fairy King continued chuckling and knelt down, smiling.

Is he always happy? She thought. He's always so darn giddy. It makes me sick. You would think he'd be always frowning. Maybe he's not so bad.

Mariana blinked at her own thought and sat into a sitting position, breathing hard.

"Wasn't that easy? You just needed some motivation." He winked, reaching a hand to help her up.

Mariana stared at it for a few minutes. Smiling or no, he needs to earn my trust. She concluded, pushing herself off the ground and standing on wobbly legs, ignoring the Fairy King's hand.

When she regained her balance, the king launched a dagger at her. Mariana yelped and tried to duck. Again, she was stuck.

She swore and focused on the dagger, willing it to comply her wished. Sure enough, it stopped and turned, flying back where it came- the Fairy King. He easily evaded it and smacked it to the ground.

Mariana smiled. Her control was getting better. Soon enough, nothing the Fairy King can do will stop her.
