The cold crisp air was nipping at my arms and I loved it. It may be summer but here at night it's still pretty chilly. After we left the Sky Zone, Vinny and I came here. Where we first met at sunrise. The park was of course empty because it was by now almost one in the morning.
"Right here Ollie." I hear Vinny say and I look over to see him by the double slides, far from any large sources of light besides the moon.
"We're not going by the swings?" I ask, I thought we were going to do a remake of when we met three weeks ago. Wow I've only known Vinny for three weeks, but it seems like I've known him forever.
I forget the possible dirt on the slide and sit down on the slide that is parallel to Vinny's. The sparks of electricity shock me as I hold the edges to adjust myself comfortably, adding onto the sparks I already felt by just being here.
"Look up." I hear Vinny whisper. I tilt my head up slightly and I can see why we came here. The stars were absolutely beautiful. There were so many adoring the sky, flickering and some shining bright. I could see all the different tints of the stars, some were slightly more red then the others, while some would have a more bluish glow to them. It looked like I was looking at a picture of a galaxy and I guess this is what they would base it on. There were swirls of who knows what all around the sky. Maybe they were clouds or maybe it was whatever the milky way was made of. Eirther way it was gorgeous.
"Woah, I've never seen so many stars at once." I say to Vinny looking back at him with a face of a giddy child no doubt.
"Isn't it beautiful. My mom was always a big fan of stars, she had a patio added to her room just so she could watch them every night." Vinny's voice is soft as he speaks of his mother.
"She seems like a wonderful person." I say not knowing what else to say.
"She was." Vinny looks at me with a small smile and looks back up at the stars, "She would've liked you."
I take Vinny's hand as we sit in the silence for a few minutes. At times playing hand games like thumb war or just interlocking our fingers almost into a knot.
"What do you see in the stars?" Vinny asks still fiddling with my right hand.
"Mmm. Well that right there looks like a... Bow and arrow." I say pointing to three consecutive stars that create a line for the arrow and a curve of about four or five stars.
"Oh I see what you mean!" He says after a long pause. "Okay over here I see, what looks like a fish I guess."
I tilt my head to the right to see what he is seeing but I just can't tell which stars he is talking about.
"Where?"
"Right there Ollie." Vinny says again trying to point out the idividual stars.
".... I don't see it." I say with a small laugh.
"What? Here come in my slide." Vinny says scooting over. There's a small bar that is made of the same yellow plastic as the slide but it is still effective in seperating us. I get up from my slide and squeeze into his. Our legs are over lapped but I can fit my butt against the side of the slide.
"Now which ones were you talking about?" I ask looking at the sky.
"Which ones what?" Vinny sounds distracted I look at him to see him staring at me already.
"Where are the ones that made the fish, I want to see it too." I ask looking back at him
"Oh, oh yeah. Just look at the brightest ones." He responds still not breaking eye contact.
