"I'll have a tall Venti Iced Caramel Macchiato please."
"What's your name?" I asked with a smile.
"Jessica."
I quickly wrote down her name on the cup and went to the coffee machine. Yes. I work at Starbucks. Go ahead call me basic. I mix in the freshly steamed milk with the vanilla syrup into the tall plastic cup of espresso coffee and ice. Top it off with the mandatory caramel drizzle for that extra sweet factor. Satisfied with the amount of each component I put the top on and hand it back to Jessica.
It has been pretty slow today, probably because this mall is basically empty. It isn't the go-to mall here in town. This is where the wiser of the town come to avoid hundreds of bodies and long lines. Pretty much why I chose to work here, I knew it wouldn't be hard to keep up with all seven costumers I would get a day. That girl Jessica is like the eighth or ninth customer today. I sit around for about 30 minutes until someone started head their way towards Starbucks. Here comes customer number ten. I stand up and straighten my green apron and align my black hat.
"Ollie? I didn't know you work here." Of course it's him.
"Well I do. What's your name?"
He chuckles and rolls his eyes. Those beautiful, blue eyes. "Really? Are you being serious?" I continue to give him a straight face. He just looks down and shakes his head.
He looks back up and stares me straight in the eye and says, "Cooper. Vincent Cooper." and then looks away into the distance, well in this case the Starbucks logo behind me.
"Hmm Vincent is kind of long name, do you have a nickname?"
He gave me a blank stare so I continued talking.
"I think I'll just write Vinny, it's easier to spell. What would you like, Vinny?"
"Okay then, uh I'll have a medium Neapolitan frappe. Extra mocha syrup please."
My eyes widened in surprise after he said that. "Cool how did you know about that one?"
Vinny chuckles a little and shrugs, "The internet."
I grab his cup and turn around towards all the machines. I take a sharpie and quickly write his name followed by a little heart.
Oh crap what did I just do? I can't believe I just drew a heart! If he sees it he's gonna think I'm some crazy obsessed girl with a crush. I mean that's not too far-fetched from what I am, but still that's embarrassing. I quickly scribble out the heart and start to make his drink. Okay now, strawberries and creme frap, four pumps of mocha syrup, vanilla bean powder. I think that's it now the top-wait dammit I forgot the chocolate drizzle. Get it together Olivia. Now I'm done.
"Here you go" I say and hand him his drink.
"Ollie I thought you said Vinny was easier to spell." He started laughing while looking at the scribbled out heart. I started blushing and laughed along with him. I'm so stupid I could've just thrown away the cup. A+ for Olivia Santiago.
"So uh, Ollie what time do you get off of work?"
I look at the clock and see that my shift is about to end. "About now actually."
"Do you wanna come with me to my house and hang out?"
"Sure." I said not trying to over think it. But I mean should I be? Have I been friend zoned? We kissed twice but you can still be friend zoned. Oh god wait what if he's into me? We did kiss twice. Wait that would be a good thing. Unless I mess it up and then I do become friend zoned. Cheese and crackers. So much for trying not to over think it.
