Jay Zander:

While dad and Jasmine were pre-occupied, I called up Sammie. She’s my girlfriend of two years now. Today is our anniversary. She’s all the way in Chicago though and if I want to go see her than I would need to hope on a plan within the next hour so that I can be outside her work tonight when it closes. Jazz and dad were talking about werewolves and Seth and I was kind of just waiting for a chance to spend alone time with dad, but something came up every time. It wasn’t his fault. Jasmine really wants to know him and she is by him twenty-four seven. I love her though.

Making up my mind, I packed a backpack, went to say goodbye to the family, which took way longer than I wanted, and headed for the airport. Seattle airport was busy today. I was pushed and screamed at when I bumped into people, but finally I had a ticket. Finally, I was going to see my girl for the first time in four months and hope she is still my girl.

My legs bounced the whole ride to Midway Airport. It was a five hour flight, which puts me at dinner time in Chicago, but it was another two hours to Sammie’s work place. I settled into the back of a cab and tried being patient, but I was so excited. We pulled up outside of a small bakery with cake guitars in the window, the biggest one being a replica of my first guitar that I wrote my first song on just for Sammie. Paying the cab driver, I grabbed my backpack and went to the door. The sign said open, but when I checked my watch I knew it was going to change soon. I walked in and the bell went off. “Sorry, but we’re about to close!” I heard her sweet voice from the back room. “You’ll have to leave. I’m sorry.”

“Well, I certainly hoped you would be able to cure my sweet tooth.” I called out.

“What exactly are you craving?” I didn’t see her yet, but I think she might know who she’s talking to.

I smiled and felt the emotions, pure happiness and surprise. YES!  “I have a craving for some Sammie-Bears. Know where I can get some?” I was beaming now.

“JAY!” She screamed and ran from the back room, tripping on a chair and falling right into my arms. “It seems as though I’ve fallen for you.” Sammie whispered and looked up into my eyes. The minute our eyes connected I knew she was mine.

“That’s good because I’ve fallen for you too. Sammie, I’m in love with you. I’m not just saying it because we haven’t seen each other. I knew I loved you before, but now I know that I can’t live without you by my side.” I bent down to kiss her and felt the familiar sparks and butterflies start. One day, she’s going to be my wife. I might only be going on sixteen, but my mind and heart are made up.

“I’ve missed you, Jay. I love you and I surely hope I get to be at your side forever someday.” I kissed her again and waited for her to lock up before driving her home. When we got to her place, I was greeted by her parents. They gave me hugs and we all sat to talk for a little before going to bed. Sammie and I climbed into bed together. Yes, we are allowed to share a bed. I pulled her close and she rested her head on my chest. “I’m so glad you are here.”

“It’s not over yet.” I told her as she yawned. Reaching my arm across her body, I grabbed the jewelry box from her bedside table. “Happy two year anniversary, Sammie-Bear,” I whispered and handed her the velvet box.
