I had completed my hammock before my gaze fell upon the scenery before me. I exhaled a deep sigh of frustration. I wondered how long I'd be here, if I'd die here alone, or if maybe more people would be sent up from the mysteries below.
I got comfortable within my hammocks crevice, crossing my arms over my chest as the cool breeze shifted the branches of the trees, making their leaves clash against each other; creating a peaceful sound.
My mind started to slowly wonder off into a vast land of thoughts, cradling me into such a painful atmosphere. I couldn't help but feel as if I'd be stuck in here forever till the day I die. I had not even a mere glimpse of hope that even the figure of a person's presence would ever step foot into this hell hole.
But I did know one thing. I'd need to start surviving up here on my own. The thought of dying in the midst of supplies and food that could last me a good long while, made me a bit anxious.
The sky slowly began to darken by the minute, a wave of desire for deep rest was now evident. My eyelids fell heavy, pulling me in deeper to a peaceful slumber. I had maybe hoped I'd dream something from my unknown past, something that would just barely relieve me from this loneliness.

The next morning, a heated light began to warm my skin. I shifted in my position, trying to avoid the burning sun beating down on my face. The light found its way through the branches of the tree above my resting figure.
I slowly began to open my eyes, my lashes feeling heavy—squinting whilst trying to adjust to the light. I let out a short yawn, stretching out the stiffness that began to grow on my lower back,
I swung my legs over, now removing myself from the hammock. My gaze fell upon the pig that remained in his metal crate. I figured I'd need to build him a fence with some form of shelter. All I could do now was to start building my way up to success.

A good solid week had gone by. I studied everything with determined intent, trying to figure out system of order. At one point, I had attempted to explore the newly discovered Maze beyond the walls. Although, what greeted me nearly paralyzed me in fear—a huge, horrifying slug-like, spike-covered creature had smelt me out. It made weird moaning, clicking, and screeching noises as its metal claws pounded against the ground. And I was clearly the top priority of its menu.
I knew one thing for certain—the creature was loud, obnoxious, and proud to be known once the walls were closed every night. I knew there were multiple and they were communicating with one another. I began to think of a name that could fit their description, something that made sense.
"Griever..." I had whispered to myself, realizing that I was still adjusting the sound of my own voice.
I had then sat down by a tree, picking at the grass, wanting to make sure I was staying sane amongst complete isolation.
"The Glade has four large walls," I breathed out, realizing how pleasing it felt to use my vocal cords. "Each wall has an opening in its center with stone doors that close every night and re-open every morning."
I paused for a moment, taking a bite of the pork I had cooked earlier.
"Outside the Glade lies the Maze with many twisting and turning paths that contain horrifying slug-like, spike-covered creatures called Grievers."
I opened my eyes, now sighing in relief. I was just barely beginning to understand the mystery of my home.

About two weeks had passed, and surprisingly enough, I was able to manage completing the build of the Bloodhouse. The Bloodhouse was where livestock was brought to be raised, slaughtered, cooked, and stored away.
"Why can't they send up a dog?" I confessed out loud, a slight chuckle escaping my chest.
They...
I thought to myself—a bitterness beginning to take its hold in the pit of my chest.
I sighed, using the wooden spear I had carved out, to push against the ground, making my hammock swing back and forth. I studied the stars above me; some twinkling, some stationary, others swooping across the sky.
Suddenly, something began to flood my vision, colors and glitches flew in multiple directions. Faces, mixed up Faces I couldn't make out, were moving around and about my line of sight. Their faces were blurry. There were voices, multiple voices, some of which they seemed to be arguing. But in a quiet soft moment, I began to hear a voice that was calm but all too familiar.
"Remember," his voice was so sincere. "I'll see you soon." He had breathed out.
I couldn't see the boy's face, only structures.
"Don't forget about me," he breathed out as my heart felt torn to the pit of my stomach. His words hurt, knowing I truly couldn't remember a thing.
"Don't forget about me..." his voice echoed through my head as I desperately tried to focus on my surroundings, hoping to see his face—hoping to find some sort of closure.
A flash of hazel-brow eyes had crossed my vision. Hands instructing screens, movement and sounds invading my senses. There were men in their seats, voices overlapping on another.
"Everything is going to change," his voice had whispered. "Remember, Lynn. Everything is going to change."
My eyes shot open, my breathing heavy as my chest rose up and down rapidly. I sat up in complete shock, I stood to my feet, backing away quickly as my breath caught in my chest.
The voices, the people, their blurred faces—so familiar and known. I wasn't insane, this was planned. Where I was, it was pre-planned I wasn't truly alone. There were others.
It was then, I realized...
"Lynn. My name is, Lynn."
