The hospital room felt smaller than usual, but maybe that was because there were more than five of us crammed into the small space watching the strange girl sleep.
"Do you recognize her?" Newt finally broke the silence, his brows raised in amusement.
"No," Thomas admitted, meeting Newt's gaze.
"Really? Because she seemed to recognize you."
"Well, what about the note?" I butted in, my hands crossed over my chest.
"We'll worry about the note later," Minho chimed in.
"I think we should worry about it now."
"We've got enough to deal with at the moment," Newt tried to finish the conversation.
"She's right, Newt. If the Box isn't coming back up, how long do you think we can last?" one of the Medjacks muttered, worry now sprawling across his face.
"No one said that," Newt reassured. "We'll just wait until she wakes up and see what she knows."
I let out a heavy exhale, running my hand through my thick, long auburn hair. I had a strange and uneasy feeling that after three years of making this my home, it was coming close to an end.
"Somebody has gotta have some answers around here," Thomas had finally made a statement, brushing past my shoulder and out of the hospital.
"Okay... w-where are you going?" Newt called out as Minho and I nearly stopped Thomas in his tracks.
"Back into the maze," he replied, determination in his step.
Minho and I rushed in front of him; my arm reached out, trying to stop him in his tracks. "We just made it back out alive."
"What is it with you, huh? Got some sort of death wish?" Minho added to the conversation, watching as Thomas looked back and forth between the two of us.
"You just got out, and now you want to go back in?" Newt came around, the three of us now positioned in front of him, trying to understand the greenie's reasoning.
"You said--" Thomas pointed at Newt, "--no one has ever seen a Griever and lived to tell about it, right? Well, now we have one."
I turned my head, looking back into the maze as my memory took me back to the moment I saw that Griever crushed between the rocks; dead, still, and half-exposed.
"You're telling me you're not even a little bit curious?"
I looked to Thomas, my eyes now fixated on his.
"Not really, no." Minho finally answered, looking in my direction for some sort of indication.
"So," I paused. "What's the plan?"
