The following month had come to a pass as Alby and I waited patiently for the box to find its way back up to the Glade, yet again. We needed the next set of building supplies to add on to our homestead. I could hear the box coming to a stop. The concrete doors opened, then the metal doors, and there it was. We examined the box from a safe distance; shocked at what was shortly revealed.

There were more supplies than ever before. And along with them, two young boys pressed against the far corner of the box. Their chests rising up and down rapidly—fear consumed their every sense.

"Hey," I breathed out with a reassuring glance. "You're alright," I calmly stated, looking to their eyes with reassurance. "We didn't remember anything either," I stated with a soft expression. "Everything will come to you as the time goes by. We'll explain everything that we know.

Alby and I exchanged reassuring glances.

"Come on," I stated, reaching out my hand slowly, allowing them to have a moment to process what was happening.

They hesitated for a moment before one of them decided to accept my offer. But in that exact moment, the boy gripped my hand harder than ever and pulled me in head first into the box. I stumbled before he pushed me into the box's wall, hitting my head in the process as I let out a groan of pain.

"Hey!" Alby shouted in anger as he jumped down into the box, not putting the other kid in a head lock. One of the boys told hold of my collar, slamming me hard against the wall with full force.

"You let her go!" Alby shouted, the kid in his arms trying his best to wiggle out of Alby's grip, though nothing fazed Al.

"You did this to us, didn't you!?" the boy yelled, shoving me harder into the metal behind me.

"No, we didn't! We got shoved into this shucking hell hole the same way you did!" I tried pushing back, nearly pushing him off balance. He hesitated for a second, his grip becoming less and less of a threat. "Lay off, man!" I shouted, shoving him off of me quicker than I thought was possible.

Alby jerked away the kid in his head lock.

I let out a sigh of frustration, exchanging glances between the two boys that stood before me. I slowly started picking up the large wooden crates full of food, supplies, necessities, and handing them over to Alby.

"You gonna stand there and look pretty or be useful?" I confronted, my brows furrowed in frustration.

The boys looked amongst themselves before helping us out with the shipment.

"Stack a few things and carry 'em over to the Homestead," I breathed out, receiving a reassuring nod from Alby. "You too Greenie," I ordered the taller one with a nod. He climbed out of the metal crate and followed Alby in suite.

I picked up one of the boxes of food, now focusing on the skinner boy with dirty blonde hair and auburn eyes.

"Follow me," I ordered.

He nodded, watching me throw the box of food above my head. I climbed up the short railing, trying my best to ignore the slight pain that was flooding to the side of my head—though I've had worse.

"You remember anything? Anything at all?"

"Uh, No. No, I don't remember anything," he stated, his accent was strong—Australian—throwing me off a bit.

"Don't worry. You'll get your name soon," I stated with reassurance. "I'm Lynn." I finished as we walked towards the Homestead.

"What is this place?" he questioned, a heavy sigh escaping his chest. "Why am I here? What is all this?"

"Bad karma?" I jested just as we reached the Homestead. I placed the food down onto the counter.

"Why can't I remember anything!?" he cried out, his voice strong and deliberate. "Why did this happen to me?"

I turned to face him, crossing my arms over my chest as I leaned up against one of the wooden poles.

"Look, greenie. I'm just as clueless as you are," I paused with frustration. "Don't give me klunk for something I know nothing about. We don't have the answers. There is nothing I can say or do to change that."

He let out a heavy exhale.

"But we're surviving. That's all we can do."

The greenie studied me, a slight nod of understanding being sent my way.

"Come on," I breathed out. "You'll need a bed."

I had gotten his resting area set up, the greenie helping me along the way. He loosened up a bit, slowly adjusting to his new life.

"What's behind those walls?" He questioned, his eyes focused on the openings to the Maze.

"We called it the Maze. It opens up every morning and closes every night. The stone walls inside move around in different sections," I explained tying off the last part of his hammock. "And before you ask anymore questions," I paused with a grin. "Where you came from was the box—what's surrounding you is the Glade, what you're standing in is the Homestead, and that's the Bloodhouse," I paused pointing over to the slaughterhouse. "Come on," I paused for a second, grabbing my quarterstaff. "Let's go check on the new Greenie."

We had walked over towards Alby and the new greenie who had just finished building a fire. The sky was beginning to darken.

"How's everything going?" I questioned Alby as I sat down by the other greenie.

"We're doing alright," Alby stated exchanging glances.

We sat there in deep thought, the sky growing dim as the fire glistened brighter. I began to fiddle with my fingers, my thoughts began to wander as they always did; it becoming a nightly routine.

"Newt," the brown-eyed boy breathed out. Everyone turned their eyes to him. "That's my name. Newt," he finished as we all smiled, nodding our heads with excitement as I placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Welcome to the Glade, Newt," I breathed out with a cheeky grin as we all exchanged glances.

The other greenie had looked up, his eyes filled with a sense of discomfort before his brows relaxed. A sigh left his chest.

"Gally," he added. There was a look of confidence before it shifted to a numb stare. "It just came to me," he paused. "None of this is making any sense."

Gally shook his head in disbelief, standing to his feet and turning from the three of us. He crossed his arms over his chest, looking to the grand walls of the Glade. "I just don't understand how all of this... just is."

"None of us understand it, Gally. None of us," I paused standing to my feet, hoping he'd turn around to just at least try to understand. "But we still push on. We try to remember," I exhaled a deep breath of distraught. "For all we know, what we are doing could be saving someone else. We could be starting a new world and don't even know it. Or... it could all be for nothing."

I shifted in my stance, preventing my mind from being clouded with the unknown.

"But, we do our part. We make our lives—this life—worth something." I had waited to get some form of recognition from Gally as he slowly turned to face me.

"I'll do my part," he stated firmly with a nod of respect as I looked to Alby and Newt. We all had exchanged glances with nods of recognition before our gazes were transfixed upon the walls of the Glade.

They began to slide shut with a loud quaking sound of machinery as we watched closely. They soon had come to a complete stop before the sound of vicious Grievers echoed through the walls.

"What the bloody hell was that?" Newt called out, his brows furrowed in distraught.

"Grievers."
