About five months had passed with a load of seven more boys that had come into the Maze. Most of them had slowly adjusted, and only a few had seemed to adjust more quickly than others. Alby, Newt, Gally, and I had a meeting at the Gathering, voting on who would be assigned their well-fit jobs. Each job that had been assigned worked out almost too perfectly. There were places for gardening, building, bathrooms, dining, and an outside kitchen for Winston's food from the Bloodhouse.

Alby and I had then decided Gally would be a builder; in which Gally had agreed. Gally upgrades older things, plans out more ideas for more building inquiries, and coaches the rest of his Bricknicks. The Bricknicks were under Gally, but they accomplished the same source of work Gally instructed. Although we only had two people in that job; Mason and John.

We had a new member named Frypan who now worked as the Cook in the Glade. Frypan stores the food we get in from the box, he prepares certain meals for different days, and he cooks meals for all of us Gladers once the time comes. We had another member named Zart, who was a Track-Hoe. He helped with the gardening, the fruits and vegetables, and of course, Zart had two other guys named Mark and Carson who helped out on the job.

Alby and I made a place for the Sloppers who worked with the klunck stuff, in other words, the disposal of us shanks. We finally had someone to help at the Bloodhouse, covering up my old duty. His name was Winston, and his job was to slaughter and prep all the meat for Frypan to cook up.

Now, saving the best for last, we have the Runners. No one else felt compelled to withstand the Maze other than Newt and me. We needed more; a lot more.

Today was the day the new Greenie would come up from the box. We asked the creators to send up some more supplies: weapons, clothes, water bottles, backpacks, and much more. We definitely needed more and more supplies, and more and more were always delivered.

Suddenly, the alarm sounded.

Almost instantly, I stood to my feet, gripping my quarterstaff and running towards the Box with Newt. The red lights were flashing around the opening of the Box. It was maybe about five minutes till it would come to a stop.

"Help!" I heard a young, scratchy, and hoarse voice call out from below. "Help! Somebody!" He yelled once again as the box grew closer and closer to the top of the Glade.

"Sounds like klunck!" one of the boys yelled.

"Probably an old shank!" Another jested.

Laughter filled the air as I shook my head in disbelief, just anticipating the fists that were going to be flying in the air.

"Scared Greenie probably klunked himself good!"

The laughter and snarky remarks continued before the Box finally came to a stop. Newt and I yanked the doors open impatiently, revealing a teen boy glancing between all of us. Before any of us could help him out, he immediately threw himself to the ground as fast as he could, pushing past the boy's that surrounded him.

The newbie bolted, his legs carrying him faster than any of the others I had witnessed. It was then that I realized he was headed toward the Maze. The boy entered the Maze, taking a sharp turn towards section six as I followed his tracks. Newt and I picked up our pace, not far behind.

Before I could turn the corner, someone's tensed figure made contact with mine at full force. It sent me backward toward the ground. I made a harsh impact with the stone ground as I let out a wheezing breath.

"Bloody hell, mate!" Newt hollered, his figure now guarding mine.

"What's going on!?" The greenie yelled, his legs unable to stand still. "Why can't I remember anything!?"

"J-just hold on."

"It's happened to all of us, mate. We were sent here with no memory. We don't know who put us here," Newt explained in haste. "They wipe our memory. We only remember our names."

"Who's they?"

I slowly stood to my feet, brushing off the debris that found its way into my garments.

"I-I don't know. We call them the Creators-"

"Don't lie to me!"

He shouted one last time before I gripped my quarterstaff with full force, knocking him directly against the head as he flew to the left of me, unconscious. I exhaled a deep sigh of reassurance, trying my best to still catch my breath, gripping my gut with the continual discomfort.

"Man," I let out, shaking my head as Gally came running towards the three of us. "Talk about a real pain in the ass."

I winced in pain watching Newt and Gally lift the newbie off the ground.

"You alright?" Newt questioned with an amusing expression. "Didn't know you could look any worse." He chuckled, his hands resting on his hips.

I instantly shoved his shoulder with slight frustration, turning my body from his as he chuckled once again.

"What!?" He questioned in innocence as I shook my head with a grin.

"The Bloodhouse will be a good look for you," I breathed out jokingly as he raised his hands in defense, brows raised.
