"Great game Ash!"
"Thanks you too" Ash responded with her automatic response
"That's all I get? What is this?" Ali questioned jokingly.
"Oh. Sorry princess. I don't know it was you. But you seriously played great. You made me look good like always."
"Aww. Thanks babe. What do we have planned for later?"
"I don't know. What don't we order a pizza, and cuddle on the couch and watch a movie?"
"Sounds good to me." They headed to the locker rooms to shower and change, then they headed back to their apartment, grabbed some pillows and blankets, called in a pizza, and settled on the couch. Of course Ali picked the movie, and of course it was "she's the man", because it was her favorite. They had just gotten settled, Ali's head situated in the crook of Ashlyn's neck and Ash's head on Ali's head just as the pizza delivery guy came. Ash got up, much to Ali's discontent, and got the pizza, and came back and sat down. They ate and watched the movie, and before the movie was over, Ali was already asleep, so Ash picked her up and carried her to bed and laid down beside her and fell asleep.

The next morning- they had training

The alarm went off at 7 because they had to be at training at 8:30. Ash woke up first, turned the alarm off, then proceeded to wake Ali up.
"5 more minutes?" Ali pouted
"I wish baby. But you gotta get up now. We have training."
"Ughh. Fine" Ali groaned as she rolled out of bed. She went straight to the bathroom and put her mascara on, then went downstairs to eat breakfast. Ash had a bowl of cereal, and Ali grabbed one too, then they were off. But something wasn't right with Ali, and Ash could tell.
"Hey Als? You ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine. I promise."
"Ok... Whatever you say."
They got to training, and Ali seemed off. Her touch was off, her read of the game was different, her passes not as crisp, her defense not as strong. She wasn't playing like the Ali that Ashlyn knew, but she couldn't figure out why. Once training was over, they got to shower and change, then they were off to their apartment. While in the car Ashlyn asked again,
"Ali. I know something is wrong. Can you please tell me? Are you ok?"
"Yes. Ash, I promise I'm fine. Just tired."
"Ali that's your excuse for everything. I know you. I married you for gods sake." Ashly chuckled. "So tell me. Are you really ok, or are you just telling me so I'll shut up?"
"I want a baby."
"Ok well I didn't expect that. Ok, when? How? Our schedule is extremely busy right now, and neither of us have time to be pregnant. Plus, the doctor said that it would not be healthy for me to give birth, for me or the baby. So, that leaves you. When do you want this?"
"Well, I know at some point I would like to give birth to my own kids, but I want a child right now. I want to adopt. But I don't think we're ready for a baby, so I think that we should adopt a child around the age of 7. What to you think?"
"I've been waiting for this moment since we first started dating, you know."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Starting a family with you. It's always been a dream."
"Aww. Me too Ash. Me too. Can we start looking into it when we get home?"
"Of course, princess."

Time skip. They looked into adoption and they finally scheduled a visit with a 7 year old girl. Her name was Samantha Marie.

"I can't believe we're doing this, Ash. I'm so excited."
"Me too, Ali. Me too."
They were waiting in the lobby when the lady came out and said
"Alexandra? Ashlyn? This is Samantha. She likes to be called Sammie. Sammie, these are the nice ladies who want you to be their little girl. They will take good care of you and love you."
The little girl takes one look at Ali and instantly runs over and hugs her.
"Hi. I'm Samantha but you can all me Sammie. Are you gonna take me home?"
"Would you like that Sammie?"
"Yeah. I want you to be my mommy. And you can be my mom." She said looking up at Ashlyn. Ali was crying, and even the rough and tough keeper looked into the big brown eyes of the little girl and started to tear up a little. Ali just hugged her tighter.
"I think you're gonna be our daughter, Sammie. How does that sound?" Ash asked, getting down to her level.
"Good." She nodded her approval.
"I think we just found our daughter, Ash." Said Ali, crying. "Can we sign the paperwork?"
"Sure. You can take her home tonight. You have a car seat?"
"Yeah. We borrowed one from one of the coaches. We can go get everything else tomorrow."
"Ok, just sign here and you'll be free to go."
"Great thanks."
"Hey Sammie?" The lady called.
"Yeah Ms. Tracy?"
"You be good for your mommies ok?"
"Ok Ms. Tracy. I love you."
"I love you too sweetheart. Come visit?"
"Ok."
And with that they were off. While in the car the Q and A started.
"What do you like to do Sammie?"
"Color, draw, and play soccer."
"Really? You like soccer?"
"Yeah. I love it."
"What's your favorite position."
"Goalie"
Ashlyn just chuckled and Ali groaned.
"What's the matter. I can still play right?"
"Of course you can play. Sammie, did you get to watch any of the World Cup this summer?"
"Yeah. I watched every game!"
"Did you now? Name some players."
"Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan, Hope Solo, Carli Lloyd, and Ali Krieger."
"Yes!" Ali screamed.
"What?"
"Do you know who I am, Sammie?"
"Uh. My mommy?"
"Well yes, but I am Ali Krieger. I play on the national team, and your mom is Ashlyn Harris, backup goalie on the National Team."
"Really?"
"Yeah! Isn't that exciting?"
"Wow. So will I get to meet all of the players?"
"Of course you will, but let's first get you acquainted with the Washington Spirit first. And then you can meet the team at the next training camp. And you get to come to the olympics this summer in Rio!"
"Really?"
"Of course. We're home now. Go in with mommy, and I'll grab your stuff. She'll show you your room, their isn't a bed in there yet, but we'll get one tomorrow. Tonight you sleep in bed with mommy and I'll sleep on the couch. We can go shopping tomorrow and get you a new bed and stuff like that."
"Hey mom?"
"Yeah?"
"Can you teach me how to be a good goalie?"
"Of course I can"
"Can we go out tomorrow. I'm kinda tired."
"Yeah of course. We can look into getting you in a league too. Now go inside. I'll be in in a second."
When Sammie went inside, ash leans on the car, not believing that in a matter of 6 hours they now had a daughter. A soccer loving daughter who also played keeper. Life couldn't get any better.

AN: ok so now they have a kid. This means I can start slowing things down and focusing on the details now that the story is sort of framed out. Thanks for reading!!
