Okay, so I'm totally skimming over the Olympics. Sorry I just don't feel like writing 6 games. Writing game situations is harder than you think, bc you have to make them realistic, and it's just tedious. So sorry for any disappointment.
It's game day. In the Finals of the Olympic Games. I'm playing in the finals of the Olympic Games.
"Mommy! Mommy!" I was jerked out of my thoughts.
"Yes Sam?"
"Are you up for a run?"
"Yeah sure let me get my stuff on."
I went and threw on some shorts and a Nike tank with my sneakers. Sam had on shorts and a tshirt with her Nikes.
"Ready Sam?"
"Yeah let's go."
Sam and I had woken up early that morning, and left Ash sleeping. We left her a note in case she woke up, so she wouldn't worry. As we left the hotel, I turned to Sam.
"Hey kid. Take it easy on me. It's game day."
"Yeah we'll only do two. I already mapped out a route." She responded.
"Okay let's go." For 10 years old, she takes her fitness very seriously. Even if Ash and I hadn't been the ones to adopt her, she still would have a chance of making it. She has that drive. We took off running and ended back at the hotel in 16 minutes, because we took it slow. Usually we would run a 6:30 mile, but we slowed it down a bit to avoid any soreness for me later. We headed in the lobby doors and saw Alex and Tobin in the corner.
"Hey Als!" Tobin called. "Hiya Sam!"
"Hey Tobs. Hey Al."
"Hey Sammers. Where did you guys go?"
"For a run"
"Oh cool. How far?"
"Just 2."
"Well, it's time for breakfast. Let's head upstairs." Sam, Alex, Tobin and I headed upstairs and met Ash in the meal room.
"Hey guys. How was the run?"
"Good. We only did 2" I responded as Ash made her way over to me. I walked over to her gave her a quick kiss before Sam and I went to grab our food. Once we grabbed it, we went and sat back next to Ash.
"Mommy? Uh where's Hope?" Sammie asked me.
"I don't know." I trailed off as I looked around. Just then, Hope walked in and sat down next to Ash.
"Hey Hope. You okay?"
"No."
"What's wrong? You look like hell." Ash said.
"I feel awful."
"Do you want Carli?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"Carli! Come over here." I called to her.
"What's goin- oh." She said as she noticed Hope.
"Hope? What's wrong?"
"I feel awful." Hope responded.
"Ash you'll have to play today." Carli said.
"M-me?"
"You're the other keeper aren't you?" Hope asked.
"Well yeah..."
"Then you're starting because I can barely walk." Hope said.
"Oh. Uh okay then." Ash chuckled. Sammie and I made eye contact and giggled at her awkwardness.
"Watch it you two." She snapped.
"Sorry Mom." Sam laughed.
"Yeah sorry Ash." I said. Sam and I made eye contact and started laughing again, and Ash just glared at us. Once we finished we headed back up to the room to rest for a few hours before we had to get the bus.
"Ali. I'm starting. In the Olympic final."
"Yes. I heard Ash."
"Ali..." She trailed off. "Am I good enough?"
"Ashlyn Michelle Harris. You would not be on the greatest team in the world if you were not good enough."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Thanks Alex. I'm going to take a nap."
"Okay." Ash went and took her pre game nap, and Sam and I laid on the other bed. Eventually Sam fell asleep on my shoulder, so I flipped through the channels. Eventually, I had to wake them both up because we had to catch the bus.
"Sammie. It's time to get up." I shook her gently awake.
"Is it time mommy?"
"It's time." We shared a smile before I had to wake Ash up.
"Ashlyn. It's time to wake up babe. It's game time." Her eyes popped open.
"Game time. I'm playing. Holy shit."
"Language." I warned.
"Sorry."
"And yes you are playing. But we have to go or neither of us will be because we missed the bus."
"Okay okay I'm up." We grabbed our headphones and bags and headed out and met with the team in the lobby, and loaded on the bus.GAME TIME- SAM'S POV
I was in the stands with Grandma and Grandpa and Nana and Grampy who had flown in last night, and the teams had just lined up for national anthems.
"Why isn't Hope in? Not that I'm not ecstatic that Ash is playing, just curious." Grampy asked me.
"She's sick." I responded.
"Oh that's too bad. Is she on the bench?"
"I think so."
"Oh okay." Soon we had to stand up for the national anthem, which we stood up and sang with pride, and before we knew it, it was kick off. It was back and forth between the two teams for the first 20 minutes or so. However, all of that changed when Germany's defense broke through Julie and Becky.
"Come on mom. Come on mom." I mumbled. The player took a powerful shot from outside the 18, but thankfully it was right at mom, and she easily corralled it. Eventually, in the 87th minute, the youngin, Mallory, slotted it to Mommy making the run in the corner, who put a cross in. Everything was in slow motion as we all watched the ball fall right over the keeper's hands, and hit Becky's head, of all people, and she put it away. It was as if time was in a standstill, and the cheers hit us like a whirlwind. Grandpa picked me up, and spun me around. I turned my attention back to the field where Becky had fallen to her knees and put her arms up in triumph, and the whole team piled on top of her. What a way to score your first international goal. Jill used her last sub and put Whit in for Alex, and the defense buckled down. The final whistle blew, and the stadium erupted. Mommy and Mom ran straight for each other, and Carli ran off the field to Hope, and Alex on the field to Tobin. I sprinted down the railing and Mom saw me and sprinted over to me. She lifted me over the railing, and spun me around. Mommy came over a few seconds later, and we were all laughing and crying.
"Mommy. You came back and you won."
"Alex I'm so proud of you princess." Mom said as she kissed mommy's head. I ran over to Alex and Tobin next and they engulfed me in a hug. I went back to my grandparents when they had to get their medals, but as soon as they got them I could come back down. It was in this moment that I decided this was what I wanted to be one day.AN: Sorry it's been like forever since I last updated, but i'll try to get better. Hope you liked it!!
