AN: So I am going to do a time skip where national team camp ended, and they headed back to the spirit.

"Ahhh home sweet home" Ashlyn sighed.
The Krieger-Harris's had just gotten back home from the national team camp, and we're looking forward to getting back into the swing of things with the spirit.
"Sammie, remind me to make you a doctors appointment for tomorrow, ok?" Ali asked
"Yeah I'll remember."
"Ok, I'm gonna go upstairs and unpack, you guys can come if you want to."
"I will" Sammie said, walking over in the boot. Once they got upstairs and unpacking, Sammie had a question.
"Mommy?" She asked
"Yeah Sammie girl?"
"Um when do I start school?"
"Um, well your mom and I were thinking next year, since it's May now and the school year is over in a month. But you'll be doing work with us so you're not behind. Understand?"
"Yeah that makes sense. Can I try to get on a team after I'm done with this injury?"
"Yeah of course. Come on let's go downstairs."
When they headed downstairs, Ashlyn was passed out on the couch. Ali leaned over and whispered something to Sammie. Soon they walked over to Ashlyn, and they started tickling Ashlyn, causing her to jump out of her skin. She grabbed them and pulled them both down on top of her, and held them there.
"I had plans to take you guys out for dinner, but now I'm not so sure." She threatened, pretending to stroke on her beard.
"Pleaseee, baby?" Ali said.
"Yeah c'mon mom? Please?" Sammie gave her the puppy dog eyes.
"Aww man, champ. You pulled the puppy dog eyes out. That's not fair!" Ashlyn pretended to be annoyed. "Go get ready you two!" She said as Sammie and Ali headed out. "And wear something nice!" She called behind them.
"Mmm kay!" Ali yelled back.
"Mommy, what should I wear?" Sammie asked.
"You have that black dress, right?"
"Uh yeah."
"That should be fine."
"Ok"

Sammie and Ali headed in and got showered, Sammie going after Ali, since Ali needed more time to get ready. Once Sammie got in the shower, Ali headed into her room, and put on a tight red dress that cut off mid thigh, and white heels. She then did her hair and makeup. She curled her hair, then she put on her concealer, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, and a little lip gloss. She didn't want to over do the makeup, and overpower the outfit. Once she was done, Sammie was ready to get out, so Ali helped her ease out, and put the boot on so she could dry off. Once Sammie was dried off, Ali helped her put on the dress, and one tall, light brown boot and a cream colored boot sock. Sammie's dress was tight in the chest and midsection, but flared out at the bottom, and went to her knees.
"Sammie-girl?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you want to wear some makeup?"
"Yeah sure!" Sammie said excitedly, because it was the first time her mom had offered. "You're gonna do it, right?" Sammie asked nervously.
"Yeah, I'll do it." Ali chuckled at her daughter's nervous state. They headed into the bathroom, and Ali only did Sammie's eyes, putting on a little eye shadow, and eyeliner, then a little more with the mascara. Sammie felt really grown up at the moment, and couldn't stop smiling. She also put on some lip gloss. While Sam and Ali were getting ready, Ash had been getting ready herself. Ash was wearing a grey button up, black jacket and black jeans, with black shoes, and a black bow tie. Sammie and Ali walked into the kitchen, and found Ash standing against the counter.
"Hey babe." Ali greeted.
"He- wow" She gasped as she turned around.
"Like what you see Ash?"
"Umm yeah." She said as if it were obvious. "You guys look gorgeous."
"Thanks" Sammie giggled. "Now let's go, I'm starving."
"She really is your daughter, Ash." Ali sighed. "I don't know how I'm gonna deal with two of you."
"Well, it can't be that hard." Ash said sarcastically.
"Yeah ok. Come on, now I'm starving." Ali laughed. They headed out and loaded into Ashlyn's jeep.
"Where are we going Mom?" Sammie asked.
"It's a surprise, Champ." Ash replies, to which Sammie just sighs. Soon, they pull up to an expensive steak house in downtown DC.
"Ash." Ali breathed. "You didn't have to."
"Yeah, but I wanted to." Ash was adamant. "You guys are worth it." She said as she walked in, Ali and Sammie behind her. "Reservation for Ashlyn."
"Right this way" The hostess led them to their table. "Your waiter will be right with you."
"Thank you." Ash said. Ash and Ali sat next to each other, and Sammie sat across from them.
"Hi, I'm Liz and I'll be your waitress tonight. Can I get you something to drink?"
"I'll have a water." Sammie said.
"Same with me."
"Looks like waters all around." Ash said with a smile.
"Ok, I'll be right back to take your orders."
"Thank you."
"So, when's the next National team camp?"
"Dude we just got back!" Ash laughed.
"Yeah well, I miss Alex and Tobin." Sammie defended
"I know. Well, there is one camp in July, then we go to Rio in August." Ali explained.
"Oh, ok."
"But, Portland comes here to play in 4 weeks, then we go out to Portland the week before we leave for camp in July ."
"Oh sweet."
"Yeah, all of the teams have national team girls on them."
AN: Just an FYI we're just gonna pretend that no trades have been made, and Orlando doesn't exist.
"Oh yeah. Who do we play next?"
"This Saturday, we have the Reign, then next week we have the Breakers, both at home. Then we travel to Houston the following week." Ali informed her.
"Oh ok. Who is on the teams?" Sammie asked.
"Hope and Pinoe are on Seattle, Alyssa is on Boston, and Carli, Moe, and Kling are on Houston." Ashlyn explained.
"Cool. Here comes the waitress."
"Here are your waters. Are you guys ready to order?"
"Yeah I think we're all set. Right guys?" Ash asked.
"I'm good" Ali said. "Sammie-girl?"
"Yeah I'm all set."
"Alright, I'll have the filet." Ashlyn started off.
"I'll have the salmon" Ali said.
"And I'll do the baked chicken" Sammie ordered.
"Ok I'll get those right in for you ladies. Can I get your menus?"
"Yeah. Thank you."
"No problem"
The small family made light conversation until Ash felt Ali tense up under the table.
"What's wrong, Als?"
"L-look who walked in" Ali said, pointing at the entrance. When Ashlyn looked, she saw Ali's ex from college. She knew Ali felt very uncomfortable with him, because he never treated her right.
AN: I don't know if he treated her wrong, or why they broke up, but just go with it.
"Ali, he's coming nowhere near you, or Sam. I'll make sure of it." Ash comforted. She heard Ali inhale and exhale deeply, and she patted Ashlyn's  leg, just as the food arrived.
"Ok, here is your food. Enjoy ladies!"
"Thank you!" Ashlyn said.
"Mommy? Are you ok?" Sammie asked, concerned.
"Yeah, I'll be ok, Sammie-girl."
"Who do you keep looking at?"
"My ex boyfriend is over there." Ali said, motioning to him.
"Oh, when did you guys date?"
"In college, but he wasn't very good to me, so I broke up with him."
"Oh."
As if on cue, Ali's ex notices her.
"Ali?" He asks as he passes by.
"Hi"
"Hey how are you?"
"Fine." Ali said, as Ashlyn patted her leg for comfort.
"Is this your friend?"
"No. This is my wife and daughter." Ali said, calmly.
"Oh, hey I didn't think you swung like that." He said with a chuckle.
"I don't think it's your place to tell my wife where she stands, huh?" Ashlyn got up in support of Ali.
"Woah, easy there. I don't wanna make a scene."
"Well, then I suggest you stop questioning my wife, got it?"
"Yeah yeah"
"That is not an option. Trust me. If I didn't have a daughter, or a reputation, you don't want to see what I would do."
"What the hell does a fag like you have a reputation for?" He questioned as things started to get heated.
"My mom and mommy both play professional soccer for the Washington Spirit, and the Unites States Women's National Soccer Team. You know, the team that just won the World Cup this summer?" Sammie said with pride.
"Oh, sorry. You're moms are both great women. Sorry Ali." He said sheepishly as he walked back to his friends.
"Nice work Sammie!" Ash said with a chuckle. "You're learning!"
"Ash!" She slapped her on the arm. "Do not condone that!" She said laughing. "But thank you Sammie. You probably just saved us from a big scene."
"He didn't have he right to call mom that. What does it even mean?"
"What? fag?" Ashlyn clarified.
"Yeah"
"It's just not a nice word that people use to describe men who like men and women who like women."
"Oh. I don't understand why people can't just deal with it."
"Neither can most people, Sammie-girl, but that's just some people." Ali explained. "Now finish up, it's getting late."
Once they finished their meals and Ashlyn paid the check, the small family headed back to Ashlyn's jeep. Ash gave Sammie a piggyback, and placed her in the seat.
"Mommy, you need to make a doctor's appointment for me."
"Right. I'll call in the morning." Ali said as she got in the car. Ashlyn got in the drivers seat, and headed towards home. When they got home, Sammie had fallen asleep, so Ashlyn carried her inside, and placed her in bed. She then took her dress off, and pulled out some sweats for her to put on. Sammie woke up as Ash was pulling the sweats over her legs.
"Sorry Champ. I didn't think you would want to sleep in that dress."
"It's ok" she groaned.
"Tired kiddo?"
"Mmyeah" she yawned.
"Well, get to sleep. I love you Champ."
"Love you too, mom"
"You're mommy is gonna be in in a minutes to say good night."
"Mmkay" Sammie said as she was nodding off. Soon, Ali came in.
"Good night Sammie-girl. I love you. " she whispered, kissing Sammie's forehead.
Sammie responded very groggily, "night mommy love you."
"Ok, get to sleep. We have to get up pretty early because mom and I have to get to training."
"Mmkay"
And with that, Ali crawled into bed next to Ashlyn.
"Ash?"
"Yeah Als?"
"I'm sorry that he gave us a hard time tonight. And thank you for taking us tonight. It was great."
"You're welcome princess. And it's no big deal. Sometimes people are jerks. Plus, apparently we have Sammie to stick up for us now." Ashlyn joked.
"Yeah, she sure is something special, huh?"
"Sure is. Good night princess. Love you."
"Night stud, love you too."
