"Lexi, I don't feel good." Sam whined as she woke up the next morning.

Lex knew there was something wrong, because Sam only called her Lexi when there was something not right.

"What doesn't feel good, S?"

"My head and throat and I'm cold."

"Aw Sam. Why don't you come downstairs and we'll get you some medicine and tea, okay?"

"Okay." Sam said and outstretched her arms towards her best friend, signifying that she wanted to be carried. Lex just chuckled and picked up Sam bridal style and headed carefully down the stairs.

I'd better call Ali and Ash, she thought.

"Sam I'm gonna call your parents. Do you want them to come home, or will you be okay?"

"I'll be fine," she coughed out.

"You sure?"

"Yeah," she responded. "Please hurry up though."

"I will."

~ ON THE PHONE WITH ALI ~

"Hello?"

"Hi Ali, it's Lex."

"Hey Lex what's up?"

"Um well I was calling to let you know that Sam isn't feeling great."

"What's wrong?"

"Well she is complaining of a sore throat and headache, and she's running a slight fever."

"How high?"

"Uh it never broke 100."

"Oh okay. Does she want us to come home?"

"No she said she was fine. She's getting better, and my parents will be home tomorrow night. Don't miss out on this, you know how important it is to be there."

"I know. Well thanks for letting me know, Lex. I'll go talk to Ash and see what we're gonna do."

"Okay no problem." Lex said and hung up.

"What's wrong?" Ash asked as Ali reentered the hotel room and noticed Ali's face.

"That was Alexa, Sam is sick."

"How sick?"

"Pretty bad fever, sore throat, headache."

"Oh, well I'm sure she'll be fine. Does she want us to come home?"

"No, Lex said she would be fine, but Ash, I'm not sure I want to stay."

"Ali, the kid's been sick a hundred times, she's fine, she's probably just getting stressed over midterms."

"Ash it's my child! I'm a mother! How can I stand here while she's sick and hurting!"

"Oh and so I'm less of a mother because I trust that our daughter will be okay?!"

"I didn't say that!"

"It's what you were implying!"

Cass came out of the bathroom then. "Mommy, Mama, why are you yelling?"
