Stop gambling, throw your poker chips out
I've seen all I care to see,
that's that
The music swells ominously and
the men study each other, with gazes full of suspicion
Size your enemies up, form a strategy
The bets are made; choose wisely
Slyly, slip a bill under the table
It's an art, you claim
But now, the cards are on the table
The winner is declared, but of what?
Cunning and daring, skillfully handled, the picture of suave maturity
Sophisticated grace, in your rented tuxedo, the hero of the night
The ruler of the table! Let's have another round
Shaking my head ruefully, it's all just a game
Yet no one can see past the wretchedness, past the cards in their hands. Once a loser, always a loser, time to off yourself
It's all about you. Tonight is your night to shine, it's your "big break"
I've seen all I care to see
That's that.
