Chapter 50 - The City of Skulls
We all scramble into our rooms and try to pack within the time limits. We had to finish a process which usually took 4-5 hours in only 30 minutes.
"Are you guys done" asks Preet. I look towards the door to see Indra and Preet all ready to go with their luggage. "Do you think we are?" I ask pointing to the pile of clothes Kayla was trying to fit in her bag.
"Didn't Quinn tell you" Preet says "He told us we literally need nothing other than some personal items like make-up. We have a full on shopping spree as we reach Europe.
"WHATT!!" Kayla and Alexis scream. I don't know if it's from annoyance or excitement. I think from the latter.
"Well then I'm ready" I say slightly annoyed that I was worrying about packing for no reason.
Kayla and Alexis quickly take some of their clothes out of their bags and join us.
"Do you know where in Europe we're going?" I ask.
"Not sure, but I'm going to say bye to some people. Ok?" Alexis says walking away from us.
"Oh yea, I have to go meet someone too. I'll be right back" Preet says following Alexis.
So Kayla, Indra, and I start talking about all the things we're going to do in Europe.
"So we kind of have to go to Paris, because Paris + Quinn is like perfection" Indra gushes out.
"I don't really know about the Quinn part, but I want to go to Paris to visit the Catacombs" I reply.
"Catacombs?" she asks.
"You haven't heard of them before?" I ask dumbfounded.
"Say you have" I hear Kayla mouth to Indra from behind me. But, I don't think Indra notices and she said "No". I hear Kayla smack her palm on her hand.
"So I don't know where you've been all your life, oh yea Italy. But, isn't that like beside France. So how could you have not" I ramble "Well let me just explain it to you then" I say excitedly.
"I'll try to make it short ok? so the Catacombs of Paris it includes the bodies of the dead from the riots in the Place de Grève, the Hotel de Brine, and Rue Melée were put in the catacombs on 28 and 29 August 1788 and the tomb of the Val-de-Grâce hospital doorkeeper, Philibert Aspire, lost in the catacombs in 1793 and found 11 years later, is located in the catacombs on the spot where his body was found and In 1871, communards killed a group of monarchists there also During World War II, Parisian members of the French Resistance used the tunnel system. And then..."
"Jasmine I've heard this lecture about thousands of times and I know it's going to keep going for about half an hour, so just let me explain to Indra" Kayla suggests. I agree not really knowing what was wrong with my explanation.
"So it's underground and there are a lot of skulls. That's pretty much it" Kayla explain
"Oh ok, what kind of skulls?"
"As I stated before in my thesis, they are speculated to be..."
"Human" Kayla interrupts me. I don't say anything already use to getting cut off by Kayla whenever I talk about these types of things.
"Why are you looking at Jasmine like that" Alexis asks Indra. I guess Alexis and Preet came while I was daydreaming of Paris.
"Wait, so you want to go to Paris to see skulls" Indra asks me ignoring Alexis' remark.
