"I can't believe it..." Sonic said, as he sat down in the chair. He, and the rest of his followers were in an underground room, hidden from any government forces. "I can't... FUCKING BELIEVE IT!!" He stood up, and threw his chair against the wall, shattering it.
Everyone just sat quiet, completely understanding what he means in their heads. Sally just watched him, heartbroken seeing him so destroyed. "He was our friend. Our brother! And he threw it all away!" Sonic screamed. "Our own teammate... Betrayed us."
Tails mumbled."The massacre.. It's clouded his mind with fear and self blame." Shadow sighed. "I know he believes those lives lost were his fault. Silver is a kind hearted guy with soft emotions. But.. Even this shocks me." Sally added in. "Look... I know you all think it's because of his self blame and shit. But we were all responsible! All of us! The Defenders!" Sonic argued.
"Not The Defenders anymore." Manic then quietly blurted out. Everyone then glared at him. He then quickly tightened his lips. "You still don't get it, do you? Silver at have influenced the others, but it wasn't just him! It was also Vector. Shade. Knuckles. Rouge. They all betrayed us!" Tails stood up and blurted out.
"Well, if ya think about it that way, they chose a side. Willingly. As did we. It's our opinions against theirs." Sally enlightened. "But we were a TEAM! A team always decides together! As a whole!" Sonic debates back again. "Calm down, Blue. Silver's just... Confused." Sally grabbed his arm softly.
"It doesn't matter anymore... He still chose a side. And you know what..?
...He chose wrong."
"Sonic, that's not fair. Silver has his own opinion. He doesn't always have to side with you." Shadow said back sternly. "That's just it Shadow! You're right. He does. But against something like this? Why the hell would he choose the government! He's the one who hates politics more than anyone!" Sonic wielded.
Sally nodded slightly in agreement. "Even when we were on that hateful planet. He still agreed with us! He hated humans because they were cruel. But he still sided with us." Tails said. "He's an ally Sonic. Give him some slack." Manic tried to fit in with the argument.
"Was an ally. Not anymore..." Sonic sighed deeply. "Cmon Sonic, that isn't fair to say." Sally said, disappointed.
"I'm sorry, when did this become about fair?" He questioned loudly. Te room then wet quiet. "I mean, the government did take our fucking rights away after all!" Sonic threw his arms I the air.As negativity filled the air, they heard a beeping sound. All their ears perked up, as looked over at Manic. He was on his phone, completely ignoring the whole situation. He noticed and felt their eyes on him, then looked up. "What?" He questioned. They all had frustrated looks.
"What I got bored! Besides... I found something big yo." He defended. Shadow pinched the bridge of his nose in utter annoyance. "Well... What is it??" Tails asked, curious. "Uh... It looks like we don't own 'The Defenders' title anymore." Manic then blurted out.
Frustration then filled the room from the idiotic hedgehog. "Manic... We JUST discussed this..." Sally said, ready to slap his annoying mouth. "Right... But, The Defenders aren't shut down! The term is actually in use right now.." Manic said, nervously.
"By who?!" Sonic and Shadow both yelled in shock. "Uh.... Silver and his... Followers.." Manic rubbed the back of his head, shaking with nerves. Sonic's fists immediately tightened. "That little shit.." Sonic gritted his teeth.
"Well, now that our former name was taken.. What now?" Tails questioned. Everyone looked at him, agreeing with his thought. "A new name, I guess." Manic shrugged. "Like what? The Defenders was catchy and vengeful. It's clever." Sally sighed. After all, she came up with the name.
"As everyone bickered about some underground name, they didn't notice Shadow thinking hard. But, as his eyes flew open, he stood up with a eureka. "Sally... Wasn't there a cancelled program in the Freedom Fighters division? That actually involved Silver?" Shadow questioned loudly.
"Uhh... Yeah, actually. Why do you ask..?" Sally questioned, curious. "Hmm... Oh! I know what he's talking about!" Manic exclaimed. "Same here!" Tails said too. "Well... Looks like we found or new title. Are we all agreed?" Sonic asked. Looks went around the room, with several nods.
"Alright then, it's settled. We will now be known as...
The Secret Freedom Fighters.
__________________________"So this is it huh..." A female voice soared through a massive room. The female feline walked through the doorway, and looked at the hedgehog sitting in the fancy beige recliner. He was setting in front of the window, just looking through it. The room, was almost a massive circle. The wall Silver faced, was nothing but a thick glass window. They were relocated deep in a beautiful forest. So the window, was the last thing you see before you a 400 foot dip into a river, that was rushed by a waterfall.
From Silver's view, he could see the gorgeous waterfall, and sun covered trees. "Hm?" Silver questioned quietly, as he continued to watch the waterfall rush down. "This is how it all starts? The fever of rage? That turned you against one another.." Blaze explained, as she stopped by his chair.
He sat with his leg sitting calmly on his other, and his elbow on the armrest. The same arm had its hand in Silver's cheek, as he gazed out the big window. "It all started when the kids were killed..." Silver said quietly. He still didn't even make eye contact with Blaze.
"*sigh* It all started when that alien robot came from space. Silver you need to quit telling yourself you caused all this... Seriously." Blaze said, trying to get him to understand her reasoning. "But it was, Blaze. If I had only been there earlier. I'm the one who threw Metal Sonic. It was my doing. I already told you that."
"You didn't know he was a bomb!" She defended him loudly. "Neither did Sonic... Yet we both fired at him." He said blankly as the event replayed itself over and over in his head. Blaze just stared at him, with a sad expression. "You don't owe the people anything more... You've given them everything!" She said.
"Not everything.... Not yet." He said, with his eyes slightly shut. "Then why are you siding with the government." Blaze then said sternly. "To protect the people I couldn't protect before! To avoid anymore deaths from the crossfire." Silver debated back sternly.
"*sigh* Silver, you have done your job enough! You in this line of work?! What do you think it does to me? Huh?! It devastates me! Several times I've seen you walk away, from almost certain death! And now you're killing... In a service of killers! Why would you mess with something this serious.." She said sadly.
"Because we all chose a side! There is no right or wrong on this scenario!... Only rights vs opinions. Thoughts vs emotions. Not only did I chose I said, I now lead my friends! This isn't a grudge match, Blaze. After we have won this... 'War'.. I will end this rein of government fraud." Silver said nightly, and stood up to face her.
"But how can you be so sure! Yes... You have your own followers. And yes... Honestly you do have an advantage over Sonic's side. You outrank him... In power. But what if it controls you like it does the government?" Blaze finally coped.
Silver just stared at her, blank minded. "Yeah... Think about that." She said stubbornly, then stormed out of the room. He watched her walk out, with his same blank but stern expression. As she was finally out of the room, he turned back to face the window. He stayed standing, and put his arms behind his back as he continues to think.
