I yawned and rubbed my eyes, as the morning sun peeked through the foliage of the branches above.

I sat up and looked over at the compound. For the third day in a row, trucks flocked in and out of the walls. People loaded crates onto trucks and cars collected those people.

Red, white and blue trucks went into the compound twice a day. I saw them the first day, when the place was on fire. They sprayed water and put the multiple fires out.

What confused me, was that not once, did I see 6 bird kids fly out of the compound.

I stood on the branch and scanned the horizon. Nothing.

Should I stay and wait here? I had already been here for three days, and nothing interesting had happened?

Do I continue back to Arizona? To our first house, and hope to meet them there?

After standing in the wavering wind for a few minutes, I made my decision.

I would go to Arizona.

A/N - Forgive me if I'm confusing my locations and they Arizona wasn't the location of their first home, although I think it is. I just had a full day at school, so I tried.

The sun began setting, casting an eerie glow on the forest below. I figured that since I had been flying all day, I was close.

After a few moments, I noticed a giant canyon. My heart raced as I beat my wings faster, flying across the canyon, finally seeing the E shaped house. I grinned and raced around the house and onto the front porch.

I folded my wings back up and unsurely placed a hand on the door knob. I turned it slowly and stepping inside the dark house.

If they were here, I taught them well. If something big recently happened, don't leave the lights on. Ever.

I left the door open, ensuring a quick and easy escape, which I hoped I wouldn't need. I ran my hand along the wall until I felt the light switch under my fingers.

I pressed the switch and turned around quickly. I pressed my back to the wall as I scanned the room for threats. Nothing.

Everything looked untouched from when we were last here. A dying withering flower sat in a jug on the kitchen table.

I searched through all the other rooms.

There was no one here.

Had they not made it out?

I checked that I was safe to do as I please and checked all emergency exits that I could use.

I walked into my bedroom, the familiar smell filling my nose. I looked through my cupboards and concluded that most of my clothes were too small. I pulled out a pair of oversized pants that Jeb had brought me for Christmas that were too big at the time. I managed to find a shirt that fit and managed to get the washing machine to work, despite never using one.

After putting my clothes into the machine I walked into the kitchen to see what food we had.
