Pete's POV

I wake up abnormally early to see Patrick still by my side. I watch him sleep. Up and down, his chest rising and falling with every tired breath. I look over his shoulder at the radio Brendon gave to me on my first day here. I was Patrick's age at the time.

I reach over Patrick's body, flinching at the pain in my arms. I totally forgot about last night. I turn on the radio. I don't have any CDs because they know I can cut myself with them, yet they didn't bother to take the flower pot. Weird.

I flip through the stations, and find Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters". Finally some good music. I rarely ever find music like this on the stations anymore.

I keep my eyes on Patrick some more. Everybody looks so calm in their sleep. Everybody looks like they have no problems what so ever. Even Ian Curtis would seem faultless in his sleep. Truth is we all got problems. At least here.

It's still up and down with those breaths, blonde hair falling over his eyes. I'm really intrigued, I want to know more about this kid. His face is so pure and his lips so youthful. I feel a small urge to kiss him. Right here right now, just to see how he tastes.

So I lean in, still laying down, and move his hair from his eyes, and before I know it, my lips meet his. He tastes sweet with a hint of loneliness. Maybe he needs someone in his life, and maybe, just maybe, I could be him.

I pull back away, and he's still away in sleep. He will never know.

Patrick's POV

I wake up late and Pete's gone. I look at his bed, then the bathroom, and then the clock. It's a little past time for breakfast. I assume he's out to eat, but I don't bother going, I'm not hungry anyway.

I pick up my old acoustic and notice that Prince is starting to fall off the guitar, so I stick him back on and start to play. I sing a little to go with it, but I only sing when I know I'm alone.

Pete's POV

I walk down that purple carpet, back to my room when I hear a voice come from the door. It was Patrick, and he was singing, and it was beautiful. I stand there for a minute or so, just listening to it.

I cracked the door open without making a sound, come inside. I watch him sing for another minute until he finishes his song.

"Patrick, that's awesome!" I say a little to loudly.

"Uh.." He said blushing furiously, obviously embarrassed. But for what? He sounded so pretty.

"Seriously, dude keep it up, that'll get you somewhere."

"..thanks, man,"

I want him to sing another song, but I know he's not comfortable with that right now, so I ask him a different question.

"Can you sing me a song one of these days?"

"One of these days.." He said, trailing off a little bit.

"Awesome. I came in to ask if you wanted to go outside with me, while we can. Joe had another mental breakdown and Andy is the only one who can really calm him down, so let them be,"

"Sure," he said, placing his guitar back on its stand.

We get ready and head out.

***

I lead Patrick outside, we lied in the grass, next to the big willow tree. It was cloudy, mid day and so quiet. Most of the people here decided to stay inside today, for some reason.

I look at Patrick and he's just staring at the sky.

"Looks like rain.." He says quietly, almost to himself.

Patrick doesn't talk much, but I know he's got a lot in his mind. I've got a lot on my mind, about him. He reminds me of home.

Rain starts to fall, baby drops on Pat's glasses. He look so pretty in a downpour. I feel an urge to kiss him. So build my guts to ask.

"Pat..rick?"

"Yeah?"

"Have you ever kissed a guy before?" I ask with lump in my throat.

"Well.. I.. Umm"

"I mean, you don't have to answer if you don't want to," I say quickly.

"I haven't really kissed anyone before.." He said quietly, like he didn't want me to hear, blushing again.

"It's alright man, I don't judge."

"Have you?"

"Yeah but never a guy. But you know, the reason I ask is because I could be your first?" I ask, the lump growing larger.

He was nervous, I was nervous.

There were no words, but a large hesitation. He leaned in and places his gentle lips on mine, his cold nose poking mine. Skin wet from rain.

The kiss lasted shortly, but it felt like forever. And when I opened my eyes that's when I knew, I wanted to be with this kid for a long, long time.

"Did I do good?" He asks.

"Perfect,"
