Our Summer

Chapter 12

May's POV

    I was out for about 5 minutes. I guess I passed out from stress and anxiety. Great now I don't remember what happened. The last thing I remember was Dustin asking me a question about I don't know what. I have been awake for around 5 minutes but I haven't opened my eyes. I was in the strongest pair of arms the I knew were Dustin's. I laid there just cuddling with my eyes closed in Dustin's arms. It just felt right.
    I decided that it was time to open my eyes so here it goes. When I opened my eyes I just wanted to be in the living room of my house with Dustin. Here it goes I'm gonna open my eyes. I just need to remember to say thanks to Dustin for taking care of me. 1...2...3...

"Nathan!" I screamed. I was in Nathan's arms. He was the strong pair of arms I was in. "Let go of me." I screamed.

    "May your ok. I'm here." Nathan said acting like he could get me back.

"No stop get off of me!" I noticed something was off. Like someone or something was missing. That's when it hit me.

    "Where is Dustin?" I said looking behind me. He wasn't there. I couldn't see past Nathan so I had no cue what was behind him.

"It's ok I took care of him." He said with a sly smirk on his face. "If you really want to see him well, here you go." Nathan stepped back and there laid Dustin out cold.

    "What have you done?" I said furious and with tears in my eyes.

"I told you I took care of him. I knocked him out for you. Your welcome!" He said sounding proud of himself.

    "You You You You jerk!" I stuttered almost not able to get the words out because tears were just pouring out of my eyes.

    I ran over to Dustin. I felt something fall out of my pocket but I just left it. I took a quick glance at what it might be just out of curiosity. It was my necklace! I ran over to ggrab it. I was cautious because Nathan was only about 10 feet away from where it dropped. I looked at him before I ran back to Dustin. He had furry written all over his face and i'm pretty sure that I saw actual smoke coming out of his ears. It scared me but I was also amused. When I got closer to Dustin I was terrified with what I saw. I kneeled down next to him holding him like Nathan did to me. The thought of Nathan holding me disgusted me inside. Dustin had a bloody face and was bruised all over. 
As I was about to go burst on Nathan I saw him running over. He looked like a bull. Full of frustration. Full of pure anger. I stepped back a little scared of what Nathan might do to me. When I stepped back he stopped right at Dustin's passed out body. He looked at me then at dustin. Nathan bent down and smashed dustin in the stomach and face repeatedly. I couldn't watch anymore so I charged full speed at Nathan and punched him straight in the jaw. He was thrown back when I did this to him.

"Why would you beat him more? What is wrong with you? He's already out cold and has lost some blood because of you. Aren't you done having your fun with him?" 

"I beat him more because he stole my necklace." Nathan retorted with furry in his voice. He had his fists and jaw clenched so tight that his fists were white and his face was red like when you hold your breath too long.

"What do you mean he stole your necklace?" I said confused this time. Was he telling the truth? I didn't know if I should believe him or not. I will let him plead his case first then maybe I'll believe him. MAYBE!

"May that necklace was for you. I bought it for you and that's why I was late to the airport. When we were at coffee it must have fell out of my pocket and Dustin picked it up. I told Dustin to stay away from you but he didn't listen. Cole was meant for Dustin and you were meant for me!"

I didn't know if I should believe him or not. Sounded reasonable enough but I have to stand by Dustin on this one. I can't trust someone who just ignores you. Dustin is allowed to like whoever he wants.

"Dustin is allowed to like whoever he wants. I'm not your little puppy dog! He liked me more so he put a necklace on it! A necklace that I just can't and won't believe is yours." I heard a ruffling sound behind Nathan. Once again he was in my way so I couldn't see. It was probably just some animals up in the woods. Nathan was still clenching his fists. I was really scared now. He started moving closer to me. He had a fist up in the air ready  to swing at any given moment. I just closed my eyes knowing what was going to happen next. Everything as going to be black again by the time Nathan was done with me. I just waited and waited. I finally opened my eyes after I heard a couple bangs. It was Nathan and Dustin fighting AGAIN! This time Dustin got a good swing at Nathan and he was now passed out with a bloody face like Dustin's.

"C'mon May let's get out of here!" Dustin said grabbing my wrist and pulling me towards the waterfall again.

I heard more sounds of leaves crunching figuring it was just us running. We ran further into the forest so Nathan couldn't find us. After we ran for another 5 minutes we sat down near a small stream that probably led down towards were the waterfall is. I cleaned Dustin's face off. We sat in peace next to the stream. I was in Dustin's arms like i needed to be.

"May I'm so sorry for everything that happened. I should have been there to help you and-!" I cut off his last words.

"It's ok! you were passed out on the ground like me! you couldn't do anything anyway. Thanks for saving my butt back there though!"

"No problem anytime. We should be safe here anyway."

I sat next to dustin with my head on his shoulder just staring at the water. We were like this for about 20 minutes until I heard some leaves crunching again. It scared me even though it was just some animals. I went back to watching the water when a hand was placed on my shoulder and it definitely wasn't a bird on my shoulder. It had a strong grip and felt like a guy's hand...
