Our Summer

Chapter 16

   May's POV

   I feel so light on my feet! Is this what death feels like? I'm dressed in white but not like a dress or robe. I'm in white skinny jeans and a sleeveless white flowy top. I was standing in the middle of this green field with a nice shady tree to my right. I felt cool being in a sleeveless shirt an all so I decided to keep walking and not sit under the tree. As I was walking I was just thinking to myself what if I was dead? who killed me if I am dead?  I just kept walking keeping my thoughts to myself. Thats when where I was seemed to change. It was.... getting darker? I'll just have to see whats next...
I kept walking and it was only getting darker.... and darker.... and darker. That's when i felt my eyes blinking really fast hoping the dark would go away. God must have heard my prayer because the darkness went away but were only filled with a light gray color. I focused harder and realized that I was in a small and cramped room. Great! I have no clue where I am! I was just in a field with a tree now I'm in a dark room. How did I go from light to dark? I didn't know what to do so I just screamed in panic.
When I finished with my scream I heard shuffling around outside the door and listened carefully. The door knob slowly turned and the door opened. All I saw was to guys in black. They must be the ones ho brought me here. They both had their hoods up so all I saw was a little bit of face but not enough to make out a person's name.

"So your awake" said a voice that sounded very familiar. Still couldn't make it out though.

"Ya? Who are you and where am I?

They slowly pulled their hoods down and there they stood. Nathan and Oliver! The last people I want to see right now.

"We've taken you to a warehouse so no one can hear your screams. So don't even try! There will be punishment if you try again." Nathan said in a very angry tone. I tried to move my hands but they were tied together. They shut the door and left me in the small room all by myself. I was thinking over our conversation again. He said I was in a warehouse but this room is awfully small for a warehouse. i just kept thinking staring ahead at the door. I really hadn't looked around the room only at the door. I figured if I looked around it would help me figure out where I truly am. I looked around and I saw nothing on the right side of me. I turned to the left and nothing. I felt defeated as I leaned back against what i'm assuming is the wall. When I hit the wall again it rattled and felt as if I had knocked something over. Ok so definitely not a wall! I turned my head and I saw what looked like a janitor's cart! So I was still in the hospital! Now I just need to get out of here! but how?

   Dustin's POV

I was just lying in bed thinking who I saw and what was going on? I didn't want to stress myself so I texted May because she was like a stress reliever.

'Hey I'm up! Will you come visit me? I just want to talk to somebody other than the nurses! Lol'

Send.

I waited about 5 minutes. No text.
10 minutes. No text.
20 minutes. Not text.
I tried to call her 3 times too. No answer.

Now I was worried. It's not like May to not answer back right away. What could she possibly be doing? Then it hit me! Was it May that I saw being taken away by those guys? I reached over to my night stand and hit the red button that signaled the doctor that I needed him. I waited for a minute then in came the doctor.

"What is it Dustin?"

"Can you check for May anywhere? She isn't answering her phone!"

"Sure but she probably just went home and fell asleep."

"I don't know doc. She just went home not long ago so there is no reason for her to go back."

"Alright i'll be back."

"Thanks!" I felt like I was holding a giant weight on my chest. I was worried just waiting to see if the doc found May. I waited a solid 15 minutes before the doctor came back to tell me the news. He had a straight face so there was no way to read the answer.

"So I didn't find May."

"Well I need to get out of here and find her then! I saw some boys take her! She needs help I just know it!" I slowly started to get out of bed making my way to he door hen my wrist was caught in someone's hand.

"Dustin you can't leave yet. You haven't been cleared yet."

"Well then clear me!"

"We still need to watch over you! You lost a lot of blood and you're still weak."

"Ugh fine!" I walked back to my bed in defeat. I was going to find her one way or another even if it meant sneaking out. I waited till the doctor exited out the door and down the left side of the hallway. I slowly got up and crept towards the door. I put my hand on the knob and turned. I walked out into the empty and quiet hallway. I stepped one foot out the door and was about to take my next step when I heard a girl's scream. It came from the right and down the hall. It sounded as if it was from the janitor's closet? I went to make a mad dash for the janitor's closet when I was caught on the wrist again! I turned and there was the doctor.

    "What did I tell you Dustin?"

"But.... but.....but.... May is in trouble! I know it! Please tell me you heard that scream!" I said as we walked back into my room. I sat on my bed with my legs over the left edge of the bed. I was now facing my door looking out the windows on each side of my door.

"I didn't hear the scream.. What are you talking about? You kniw Dustin the medicine we have you on might be doing this to you."

    "It's not the medicine! I retorted looking out through the windows by my door. I looked long and hard and there was the 2 guys in black again!

"Doc look there they are again! they're headed for the janitor's closet!" The doctor spun around and saw nothing. Of course!

    "Dustin I think you need to get some more sleep." I just kept staring out the window as the doctor kept rambling on about my health. There they were again but only one heading back to his room the others must be the other way.

    "Look doc! There goes the other one!" He spun around again and saw nothing.

"There is nothing Dustin!"

    "Will you At least check the janitor's closet?"

"Fine!"

    "Come back and tell me what you find."

"Alright"

I waited and waited for what felt like an hour. It was only like 5 minutes though. The door opened and there stood the doctor I saw he had that straight face again. He was tall and always had a straight face! He would be a good body guard. I waited for an answer as he stood in the doorway and I lay on the bed. I noticed a nurse walking past say 'hi'. Why would she say 'hi' though?
