5. Free candy

"Megumi-chan?" Tooru said as he looked at the pink haired girl who stood before us.
"Uh, hi Natsuno-kun," she said timidly as she blushed. Natsuno, on the other hand wasn't thrilled to see this 'Megumi'. Soon she turned her attention to me.
"You, you retarded weirdo. Who do you think you are throwing me with a rock!" She had a furious look on her face as she pointed her index finger at me.
"It wasn't a rock, it was a pebble," I corrected her.
"Don't you remember her, Megumi-chan. She's Arisu-chan," Tooru said in an attempt to cool her down. As soon as Tooru had mentioned my name to her, she froze.
"You, you're that monster from back then," she mumbled before running off.
"Well, she was utterly annoying," I said. "So was that your girlfriend, Natsuno?"
The said male disappeared into the store without answering my question, though I only did it to tease him. It was pretty obvious that he didn't like her. Tooru and I soon went in to join Natsuno. It was a small simple store, nothing special but it was okay.
"Hey, where's...Arisu-chan?" Tooru said as he and Natsuno watched me walking towards them hugging a handful of candy and sweets towards my chest.
"Is there a party going on?" the store keeper asked as he checked out our items.
"No, they're all for her," answered Tooru.
The store keeper chuckled thinking it was a joke.
"She's going to eat all that?" Natsuno asked in disbelief.
"Yep," Tooru replied as he patted me on the head. "Though I didn't think she'd want most of the sweets from the store."
"I just took the opportunity when you said you'd treat me," I said. I know it was sad of me to make Tooru buy this much candy but it's not often I get free treats from people. It was like a once in a life time opportunity for me. After purchasing our items, Natsuno went back home saying he needed to study and do homework.
"Will you be enrolling into our school?" Tooru asked as we made our way to his place.
I nodded in response since I was eating candy. That's when I realised something. It tasted different and weird. I could tell it's sweet and all but it seemed somewhat different.
"Tooru, does this candy taste weird to you?" I asked as I gave him one.
"No," he replied, " I guess it's because you're not used to food here in Sotoba. You'll adjust and get used to it. I still can't believe you can eat that much candy."
"What can I say. I have a major sweet tooth," I mumbled.
