Walk Home

I walk off the bus
Only in shorts and a light coat
The wind bites my skin
The tress are bare
The sky is gray and raining
As I begin walking, the world falls silent
I am alone
Only the sound of wind and the leaves blowing around me
Somehow, it seems peaceful
Maybe
I approach a car with windows so dark, you couldn't see anything inside
It is parked on the street
I think nothing of it
I pass by it and I hear the motor running and people shuffling inside it
That scared me
But then it passed
You never know what dangers lurk around the corners
I keep walking
The rain getting heavier
The wind blowing more furiously
The leaves rolling faster
The trees shaking violently
I come upon an old dog
I befriend it
Then we part our ways
And I keep walking as the sky continues darkening
I finally come home
Walk up some familiar steps
I knock on the door
Wait for an answer
I get nothing
No ones home
It's empty
And that's how I feel inside
