I yawn and open my eyes stretching out on my bed. It's been four days since my movie night with Luke, which meant that today was my birthday. I groan at the thought that today is my birthday. I've never been one who jumped for joy and liked celebrating my birthday, although it might be fun to spend the day with Tori. I slowly get out of bed, and trudge down the long hallway passing Tori's room on the way and into the kitchen. In the kitchen I see Tori cooking pancakes on the stove. When she hears me enter the kitchen she turns and smiles at me, a spatula in her hand.
"Hey sleepyhead I'm making you pancakes. Happy Birthday!!" She says.
"Thanks Tori you really didn't have to do anything." I say hugging her.
"It's fine, I mean after all today you turn 18. You don't get to do that everyday." She says grinning at me before turning around and flipping the last pancake on the stove. She already had a huge pile on a plate, on the bench next to the stove.
"Well thank you anyways." I say.
Tori finishes up on the last pancake, grabs the plate with the large pile of pancakes and brings it over to the table which has already been set, and has a variety of toppings and fruit to put on the pancakes. We both take a seat at the small four seater table and begin eating.
"So I was wondering if you wanted to hang out today, maybe go see a movie or go shopping?" I ask Tori. Tori looks at me, looking ashamed.
"Ummm well you see..." She pauses. "I've already made plans to catch up with Cal today." She says looking really regretful.
"Umm ok that's cool." I say feeling slightly upset she made plans on my birthday.
"If you want me to cancel I'm happy to do that." She says.
"No no it's fine I'll catch up with Luke or Justine or something." I say.
"Oh okay cool." She says smiling. We finish our pancakes and stack our plates into the dish washer. I decide to text Luke to see what's he's doing today.
Ivy: Hey Luke what you up to today? I was wondering if you wanted to catch up?
Luke responds almost immediately.
Luke: Hey Ivy! Sorry I can't catch up today; Ashton, Michael and I are going to a concert. But Happy Birthday x
Ivy: Oh um that's cool, hope you enjoy yourself
"Are you kidding me!?" I mutter to myself.
"What's the matter Ivy?" Tori asks coming out of her room, ready to head out with Calum.
"Oh nothing, nothing Luke's just busy that's all. It's cool I'll see what Emma and Justine are doing." I ask.
"Oh well ok." Tori says as the door bell rings. She races to the door and opens it to see Calum on the other side.
"Hey Ivy! Happy Birthday!" Calum says.
"Hey Cal." I say smiling at the ground.
"Ok well we're late and are gonna go. Catch you later Ivy!" And with that Calum grabs Tori's wrist and yanks her out the door. The door shuts behind them and then the sound of the car screeching down the road.
I sigh and grab my phone and sit down on the couch. I decide to text Emma and Justine to see what they're up to.
Ivy: Hey Emma what are you up to today? I was wondering if you wanted to catch up?
Emma responds quickly but not with the response I was hoping for.
Emma: I would love to Ivy but unfortunately I already have plans. But happy birthday :)
I then decide to text Justine in the hope for a better outcome.
Ivy: Hi Justine I was just wondering what you are doing today? Did you wanna catch up?
And then once again no luck.
Justine: Sorry Ivy, I would if I could but I'm already doing something today x Happy birthday tho :-)
It seems as if all of my friends have forgotten about me. On my birthday too. Even Tori made plans with Calum and didn't bother to remember my birthday, I mean she made me breakfast but couldn't even spend the day with me. I feel left out. Everyone has plans and I don't even have plans on my birthday. I was actually kind of hoping to go out tonight with my friends, but I guess tonight will be spent on the couch watching sappy romance movies; once again, my only company - chocolate and pizza.
