Hey guys sorry it took so long to update :( But this chapter is finally here and you get to learn more about Ivy's dad's relationship with her.-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Dad?"
"Hey kiddo... Well I guess you're not much of a kid anymore." He says chuckling to himself. I don't know whether to be angry, happy or sad. Both my brain and heart go into overdrive, many emotions mixing through me.
"Ivy... Please say something." He asks looking at me with pleading eyes.
I finally manage a sentence together.
"Where have you been all this time?" I whisper."What?!" He says trying to hear me over the music. I decide to be bold and grab his arm and pull him outside into the hallway, where the music isn't as loud, and conversation is easier.
"Where have you been? Why did you leave mum and I? Do you know how hard it is to be raised by an over dramatic, over emotional mother without a father?" I blurt out talking fast. I don't even know whether to call him Dad or Paul.
His face softens from what I have said and he sighs and looks down. I already somewhat know the back story due to listening to his conversation over the phone with mum but he doesn't know that and neither does mum; and I don't plan on them ever knowing.
"Ivy... Y-Your mother sent me away. She said it was for the best for me to leave and that she didn't need or want my help in raising you. Trust me when I say that I never left voluntarily." He says stuttering to start before being able to speak clearly.
"But why did mum send you away? Do you know how horrible it was all through primary and secondary school when people would talk about their fathers and I had no idea whether mine was dead or alive?"
He doesn't even pause to answer my question that I already knew the answer to.
"Ivy you know your special ability to turn invisible? I passed that on to you. It has been in my family for generations. That is why your mother sent me away. She was upset that you couldn't live a normal life like every other girl. I myself felt ashamed when your mother told me how she felt, and when she said she no longer wanted me living with you both; I decided it must be for the best. I never realised that it had upset you so much growing up without a father. I think if your mother had known how much you missed having a dad, it would have been different. Why didn't you tell her?"Now it's my turn to sigh.
"It's just that... I don't know she always seems to have something to stress about whether it be her job, housework... I just didn't want another thing to add to that list to stress her out.""Well just know that Ivy your mother and I came up with a solution. I'm not going to move back in with you guys or anything but I will be moving closer and if you ever need anything Ivy... I'm here. I will do whatever you need and I know that I can never make up that time you never had a father, but I am here now, and I'm not going anywhere." He says smiling down at me.
"Thank you Dad. It means a lot." I say smiling at him before he pulls me into a hug. I look up at him and stare into his deep brown eyes. Eyes that look exactly like mine. I've always wondered why I was the complete opposite of my mother, she having blonde hair and blue eyes, whilst I have black hair and brown eyes. Looking at my father I can now see that I got his looks.
Whilst my father and I were embracing each other, the door into the party opens and I see Luke poke his head out the door.
"Hey you guys you're missing the party." He says smiling. My dad smiles at Luke and walks back into the party. Luke shuts the door behind him and and walks over to me pulling me into a hug.
"Ivy?" He asks.
"Yeah?" I say pulling out of the hug to look at him.
"Can I ask you a question?" He says chewing on his lip, playing with his lip ring. He starts to look nervous, his voice sounding shy.
"Sure shoot away."
"Well like I was thinking that I really like you... And hopefully you still like me... And..." He pauses.
"Ivy will you be my girlfriend?"
