Last time on In Love with a Killer:

Yami laughed at the way Yugi's face looked like a cherry with how much he was blushing. Yugi pouted cutely before he simply sighed and began to laugh as well. The rest of the day was filled with fun times, sweet laughs, and happy smiles, memories to last a lifetime...

Chapter Sixteen: A Quick Conflict

After Yami had made sure his Little One was sound asleep, he swiftly left out the window and decided to take a nice walk in the brisk night air. It was calm and quiet, comfortably so and it allowed the Pharaoh some time to himself. Many thoughts raced in his mind, his brain unable to stay on one thing and ended up twisting every thought into ways he wasn't sure he could keep up with. In a matter of days, a simple high schooler was able to not only tame his fighting spirit but also melt his cold and unforgiving heart. His sparkling amethyst eyes tamed his wild and determined demeanor and his angelic voice smoothed even the roughest parts of him.

What was he to do? He couldn't stay with Yugi, that was for sure. If he did, he could risk his secret being leaked. Especially with all the time that he'd been spending with the teen, he'd definitely have to minimize that. No questions about it, as much as he hated being away from the kind young man, he just couldn't keep wasting time at carnivals instead of actually doing what he set on doing once he had turned 18. He was free to do what he wanted and right now, all he wanted was to deal out some punishment on deserving criminals. Not to mention that constantly going out to new places would undoubtedly get him caught, the police had his face and being in public was sure to get some very unwanted attention.

A scream suddenly echoed in the night, seeming only to be heard by him. He immediately looked in the direction of the scream and saw a womanly figure in the 2 story window of a nearby house being beaten by an obviously aggressive and abusive man. Rage boiled in his blood and fire suddenly shone in his piercing ruby eyes. He quickly but quietly entered the house by an open window and slowly crept up the stairs, a hand on the dagger he kept hidden on his belt. There were three rooms upstairs but only one was slightly open with a light on in it. Angered shouts and pained screams came from only that room when the door suddenly swung open with the man stomping out, leaving the woman to lay beaten and unconscious on the hard wood floor.

Yami hid behind the corner and waited for the man to walk by, when he had Yami silently put the dagger to his throat but in a second the man's instincts had kicked in and he threw Yami over his shoulder. Yami having just as quick reflexes twisted his body so he landed on his feet like a graceful cat and he lunged at the man, making both of them tumble to the floor. Unfortunately, Yami had but his bare fists since the dagger had flew from his hand and out of sight. He threw punches at the burly and drunk looking man, a good few too but the man seemed to have had enough and had Yami on his back quicker than he had thrown him. He went right for Yami's eye, but the Nameless Pharaoh dodged just in time and instead the man's fist went right through the floor.

His hand was bloody but the man didn't seem to mind as the alcohol was disrupting his sense of pain. He punched again and got Yami on the side of his head, a nasty bump forming but luckily being hidden by his midnight hair and golden bangs. 'One less bruise to get lectured for...' Yami mused in his mind as he quickly avoided another punch. Yami was going over any possible escape from underneath this man but he found none as the man had pinned him with his legs as his fists kept going at Yami's face. Yami went into a defensive position with his arms protecting his face and even though his face was safe from the man's attacks, his arms were being assaulted relentlessly and mercilessly by the man.

He desperately opened one eye and thankfully found his dagger a little ways away from him and with all the strength he could muster, he pushed the man off of him and went for his dagger. His hand was just about the grab it when he was suddenly pulled back by his feet and a heavy weight sat on the small of his back. Punches were thrown at the back of his head and Yami quickly shielded himself but he couldn't deny the pounding headache he had received from the punches that had hit their target. He looked to the dagger that was a few feet from him and he could probably reach it had his arms not already been occupied with protecting himself. He tried to hold out for as long as he could but he had trained himself in speed and accuracy, not strength or endurance. He knew there was only one thing he could do but he couldn't do it without that knife so with as much force as possible, he elbowed the man in his gut and shoved him off.

Yami quickly crawled to the dagger and swiped it up, turning around to just barely dodge a pounce from the man. Instead, he sat on the man's stomach and brought the knife down but it was stopped by him and they were having a war on who's head the knife was to be planted deep inside. He tried to force the knife down but the man was easily stronger and more powerful and in a flash, Yami was back on his back with the knife slowly coming down on him. The Pharaoh watched the knife and it suddenly reminded him of when Yugi was trying to cut some food with little luck. 'Yugi...', the very thought of the amethyst eyed teen filled Yami with a new purpose, a new reason to survive this. Pure and uncontrollable rage filled Yami to the brim and strength ran through his veins like a drug, making the young man easily turn the knife on the other man and shove it deep into his forehead until it reached the very hilt and the man dropped with a thud at Yami's side.

Yami stayed in his position to regain his breath, panting and suddenly being completely drained. He looked over at the dead man with the knife deep in his head and his eyes white and glazed over. Yami sluggishly pulled the dagger out of his head and carved his trademark into the floor next to him. He slowly pulled himself up with the dagger now in his belt and gasps still rasping out of his throat. He stepped over the body and went to the woman who was still unconscious. He found her phone in her pocket and dialed 911, telling the operator about what just happened but leaving out the part about how he murdered the man. He gave them the address then hung up and cleaned his prints off the phone. Instead of sticking around to see how things played out he left out of the window and walked back to his home as if nothing had ever happened...

What will happen next? Will Yami stop associating with Yugi? What about Yugi made Yami suddenly so full of strength? How will this affect them both in the long run?
