Last time on In Love with a Killer:

A pool of red liquid had grown around her and drenched her clothes, hair and skin. Her eyes were glassy and half-lidded, her lips were slightly parted. A question suddenly formed in my mind, 'What was I to do now?'

Chapter Eighteen: Consequences

Just then, I heard the jingle of the game shop door being opened. I silently cursed and I tried to think of a way out of this. I heard my best friend's voice call out for me and Téa. I then had an idea and pulled the knife from my dead friend, suddenly plunging it into my stomach. Pain surged through my body but I was able to barely numb it with the thoughts of Yami. "It's all for him, it's all for him, it's all for him..." I whispered to myself. I proceeded to slice my cheek with the knife then I put the knife back in Tea's stomach, making sure to put her prints all over it. I then heard the footsteps of people coming up the stairs. I backed up to the counter and slid down to the floor, clutching my stomach. When my blonde haired friend and two other males walked into the kitchen, I could clearly hear their gasps of horror.

Joey ran over to me and frantically asked me what happened while the other two, who I now recognized as Tristan and Ryou, went over to Téa's corpse. "I-I was just standing in the kitchen when she suddenly came at me with a knife. Sh-she stabbed me then killed herself, I-I don't know why she did it..." I lied as fake tears rolled down my cheeks. The salty liquid getting into my self-inflicted cut and making it sting painfully.

I coughed up blood and whimpered in agony to give off the true 'victim' act. Joey helped me to my feet as he told Ryou, the albino of our little group, to call the police. He also ordered Tristan to come over and help him with helping me to the door. About 15 minutes later, three different police cars and two ambulances were all outside my house. Téa was wheeled away on a gurney and into one ambulance while I was set up in another with tubes connected to my arms and a gas mask over my mouth.

When the ambulance arrived at the hospital I was wheeled to what I believe was the emergency room where they put a different mask on me and I found myself slowly drifting off to sleep.

"See you later Atemu, I'm gonna go for a walk!" I called to my older brother as I stepped out into the cool night air. I walked for a good 20 minutes before flashing blue and red lights caught my eye. I quickly ducked into the nearest alleyway and peaked around the corner to see three police cars parked in front of my Little One's home. 'What's going on?' I asked myself in my head as I moved to the next alleyway to be able to hear two cops speaking.

I listened to their conversation and found that my Little Yugi had been attacked. I cursed myself for ever thinking I could just leave his side like that. I jumped onto the nearest roof and ran as fast as I could along the buildings until I reached the hospital. I slipped into an open window of a thankfully empty room. I opened the door to the white room and slipped into the hallway. I walked along the many doors until I spotted a familiar mass of hair from one of the windows. I looked in and saw my Little One lying peacefully in the bed.

I signed in relief when I saw his heart monitor, his heart beat was just fine. I silently went into the room and walked to the bedside of my Little One. I saw a bandage on his cheek and grimaced. I knelt down and gently cupped his bandaged cheek, my hand found its way to his and I intertwined our fingers. I felt a soft squeeze to my hand before I saw his beautiful amethyst eyes flutter open.

He smiled but I could see the pain in his eyes, pain that I could've prevented. "Pharaoh, you're here," his sweet voice was filled with quiet joy.

"Of course I am, why wouldn't I be?" Silent tears began to leak from his eyes.

"You were gone for so long, I thought... I thought you left me..." He squeezed my hand again and I squeezed back.

"Don't you remember my promise? I'll never leave your side, and I'm so sorry I wasn't there to protect you..." I pressed my forehead against his.

"You're right, I was silly to think you had left. I love you." He sweetly whispered to me.

I smiled at him, "I love you too." He smiled brightly and Eskimo kissed me.

"Little One, when you're released from the hospital, you're going to come and stay with me okay? It's the best way that I can make sure you stay safe. And by the way... call me Yami from now on," I didn't even care if he told the police at this point. My heart had finally come to its senses and I now understood just how important he really is to me.

I saw his smile widen and his eyes shimmered with happiness. "Yami... I love you so much. I swear I'll never tell a soul about you, I'd do anything to keep you with me." He said with tears of joy rushing down his cheeks.

"And I to you, my sweet Little One," I whispered as I stroked his cheek with my thumb. He leaned into my hand before looking back up at me.

"I've never been so happy before, Yami." He responded as I began to wipe his tears away.

"Me either, there's just something about your beautiful eyes and angelic voice that makes me feel like the luckiest man in the world." I agreed with a soft smile. My Little One then leaned up and pressed our lips together, I happily kissed back. I was too engrossed into his soft lips to notice the eyes that watched from the window...

What happens next? Who did those pair of eyes belong too? Will Yugi tell Yami about what he did? How will Atemu react when he learns of Yugi coming to stay with him and Yami?
