Chapter Twelve: The Fire of the Millennia

A chilly, brisk night befell the city of Domino. Not a thing nor person stirred in the peaceful town. Everyone was quietly sleeping and resting their minds and bodies. All except one young man, he was wide awake and watching over his Little One. He made sure his Little One was sound asleep and quite safe before even attempting to leave his side. His midnight trench coat and extravagant hair fluttered and swished in the wind that blew from the window.

He smiled warmly at the cute sight of his Little One in his vulnerable state of rest. He was just about to turn to make his leave when suddenly he heard a glass break. His head whipped to the direction of the door and he waited. If someone was here, he was going to wait for them to dare step foot in his Little One's room and disturb his sleep. He narrowed his eyes and stood completely still, almost as if frozen out of sheer concentration.

Just then, the door slowly creaked open to reveal two men dressed in all black with face masks. "Hey man, look he's right there," the first man whispered to his friend.

"Yeah... wow... I can't believe a little shrimp like him was able to fight off those guys and Ushio," he said as they made their way opposite of the man who used to be the only other one in the room besides the one sleeping. Said man was blending into the shadows, hence why the other two didn't notice him when they walked in.

He scowled at the two, who do they think they are?! Why are they here, are they associated with those guys from before? It wasn't until he had noticed one of them reaching for his Little One was he finally snapped out of his thoughts. His instincts took over and he lounged for the man, causing both of them to tumble to the floor. The one underneath him gasped and struggled to get out of his grip, but the one on top wasn't going to have any of that.

He tightened the hands around the other man's neck and held him in place. He made sure to have the other in a firm grip as well, he had called upon his other worldly shadows and commanded them to make him watch his friend die. He pushed down further on the man until he heard the snap of the man's neck being broken. The other finally stopped struggling, and stopped all other movements as well. He grinned a sinister smile and turned to the second man who was still held tightly by the shadows bounds.

He went up from his other position of on top of the man to now in front of the other. The man trembled in fear of what was next, "Are you going to kill me?"

"Yes, but if you cooperate, I'll make it less painful," he responded with the sadistic grin turning into a devilish smirk. "I need you to tell me what you are doing here and why you came," he demanded to the terrified guy.

At first the man shook his head vigorously, "I ain't telling you nothing, man."

Yami just smirked, "I guess we're doing this the hard way then." Suddenly the man yelled but his sounds were muffled by the shadows. Every part of his body that the darkness touched felt like it was being burned by hot lava. After a few moments of torture it finally stopped and the man complied with Yami's request.

"Me and that guy are part of a gang, the gang's called the Millenium Dragons. A few days ago, this kid killed five of our best guys and Ushio. Ushio was one of the best fighters the gang or the seven leaders had ever seen. Our mission was to come here and eliminate this little kid out of fear of him having knowledge of us," the man explained.

"Where are they right now?" Yami demanded.

"Man I don't know, they don't tell me that stuff," the man in black said but then the burning came back and it felt like his skin was being melted off. He shook his head and begged for it to stop, then it did but it lasted much longer than before.

"I swear, I don't know where the leaders are, but there's a meeting of some high ups, the ones that hired us, in an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. Now that's all I know, I swear, man!" he panted to the threatening man. The other hmph'ed and then ordered the shadows to rid the world of both men as quietly as possible. In just a moment, the two others had disappeared. Sent to a dark and desolate place of which they shall never escape from. He sighed and looked to his Little One to find him still peacefully sleeping.

He smiled affectionately once more and went over to kiss his Little One's forehead, and pull the sheets over the young teen some more. He did so before going over to the window and going to the place the man had said. He was determined to find the men responsible for trying to hurt his precious Little One. No matter what, he was going to find the people, and he was going to kill them, all of them. They were apparently currently having a meeting, well they're going to have a very unexpected guest then huh?

Quite a long distance later, Yami had finally arrived at his destination of the correct abandoned warehouse. It took a bit longer to get there than he had previously thought so there wasn't much time, and there seemed to be too many to take on by himself. He was going to have to do something quickly, and something that could take them all out at once. Just then, Yami had spotted some large barrels within the warehouse. If they were what he thought, then he knew exactly how to take them all out.

He smirked and quietly climbed through the large window in the ceiling of the warehouse. He quickly grabbed one the conveniently placed gas cans by the barrels and got to work. He sprinkled the liquid all around the barrels and made a path that led to where the men were. He made sure to be silent as possible as he did so, as the men could easily notice him. He was just a simple human after all, or was he?

What's going to happen next? Is Yami a human or something more? Who are the Millenium Dragons? And what will Yami do the men?
