Happy reading xx (unedited)

-Alyssa's POV-

I walked home and sat on my bed. Everything was starting to make sense now. NOT. I have to find Carolyn and find out what she's hiding.

My head started to ache from the amount of thinking I did so far.

Shit.

School. Joan. Can see spirits.

I immediately dialed Joan's number and asked her to come over until I realised how stupid of an idea that was and decided to drop by at her place.

What or who did we see during school?

***********************************

"Uh huh? So, you think this Carolyn lady is hiding something?" Joan asked.

I nodded. I told her everything from what Ada had told me earlier.

"I never knew you could see them too." I told her honestly.

"Nobody ever suspects a person being able to see things others can't. Because lets be real her, we don't give off a 'Oh My God! Hey! I can see spirits' vibe." She said sarcastically and air quoted.

I laughed. We're going to get along really well. The reason why we moved wasn't only because Mom got a job here but everyone in my old school used to verbally hurt me.

They would say things like Spirit Girl or Freak. I couldn't talk to anyone because every time I did, someone else would make ghost noises and inform that person that I will call upon every spirit to possess them.

Seriously, grow the fuck up. We were in High School not Elementary School. Its as if cooties actually exist.

I glanced at Joan and smiled. My first friend who accepted me for who I am.

"Do you wanna stay over tonight?" Joan asked.

"Yeah sure."

"What do we do? Move house?" Mom suggested.

"Everywhere you go. It will follow you. Its latched onto your daughter and will not leave her alone. It will continue to keep her paranoid and hurt her. It will keep disturbing her. Sometimes may do physical harm to her. Death can also happen if they want to kill her."

Oh no.

"Wait actually I can't. I uhh have a family dinner to attend to." I lied through my teeth, hoping she would buy it.

"You suck at lying."

"I've been told."

"Well?" Joan questioned.

I told her about how the spirit is latched onto me and it might follow me here and how I didn't what to get her involved.

Because knowing these spirits, they're going to come back tonight to disturb the crap out of me because of what I saw at school earlier this morning.

I was actually quite surprised that they'd show themselves in broad daylight. Aren't they scared of light or something?

I sighed and bid goodbye to Joan.  I left at around 10. I took out my phone to see 6 missed calls from Mom. I called her back and told her I was coming home.

************************************

"Why don't we have dinner at the seafood restaurant over there?" Mom suggested.

We all nodded and found a place to sit. The restaurant was classy. The wall decorations were pretty cute.

"Cara! Aly! Let's go look at the fishes!" Jen shouted and ran to the large aquarium that held all kinds of sea creatures in them.

Jen literally pasted her face on the glass. She grinned as she pointed at the many creatures.

Cara and I laughed as we picked Jen up so she could have a better view.

"Go order your food." Cameron informed us.

We sat back at the table and looked through the menu. There were so many choices.

"Can I have the Mix Seafood and Cheese Pasta?" I requested politely.

After the meal, we decided to go home, Mom and Dad used the family SUV today so Jen and I sat at the far back while Cara and Cameron sat in the middle row. We made our journey home carefully. It was dark and raining heavily.

Suddenly bright headlights blinded my vision and a hard impact came in contact with the car. A car swerved and hit our car straight on the left side in the middle.

I tasted blood. I felt dizzy. Shards of glass piercing into my skin. The sight of the driver was the last thing I saw before everything faded black.

The driver was Xavier.

I jerked awake. I felt something wet on my cheek. A tear. Then came more and before I knew it I was sobbing my eyes out. It was just a dream.

More like a nightmare.

I rubbed my eyes vigorously to get rid of the tears. I sniffed at looked around. I switched on my bedside lamp. Something in the far corner of my room caught my attention.

I got up slowly and made my way to the thing. Suddenly a very sharp high pitched sound flooded my ears. It wouldn't stop. I squatted on the floor and covered my ears. It sounded like someone was scratching their ridiculously long nails on a chalkboard.

The pain and sound eventually faded. I opened my eyes and saw the thing still at the corner of my room. I walked towards it, scared as hell.

I squinted my eyes. It was dark and difficult to make out that item. I reached out to grab it and observed it.
Oh shit.
