Happy reading xx
-Alyssa's POV-
"Bye Mom." I waved as I walked into school.
Well technically I didn't walk, I dragged my feet in. To say I felt dead was an understatement.
I immediately made my way to the bathroom and stared at my reflection. I had massive dark circles under my eyes and I looked pale. Sighing, I walked out.
"Alyssa!"
"Hey Joan!" I smiled. Well, I tried to.
"Damn. You look like shit. What happened?"
Then, I told her how my entire night went from the creepy ass doll to the lady in Mom's bed.
"This haunting thing is really getting out of control isn't it? Are you hurt?" Joan asked, concerned.
"Is being terrified considered hurt?"
I felt someone tap my shoulder and jumped 4 feet off the ground. I turned around and say Leanne and Jayden waving at me.
I put a hand over my heart and took deep breaths as I tried to calm my furiously beating heart. Leanne and Jayden gave me weird looks but Joan just stared at me in concern.
"Hey Alyssa." Jayden and Leanne chirped.
"Hey." I smiled. I tried to, again.
But I obviously failed.
"What's wrong?" They asked simultaneously.
"Do you guys always talk at the same time? Is it some kind of twin telepathy thing?" I asked, a smile forming on my lips.
They laughed and answered no. At the same damn time again.
"Having a twin is harder than it looks." Leanne laughed.
As if I don't know. Memories of Cara came flooding back. Tears prickled my eyes as I tried to blink it away.
"You look like you're having an eye seizure. What's wrong?" Joan asked.
"Nothing." I mumbled just as the bell rang.
Saved by the bell. Thank God.

"If C² = A² + B² and if C² = 3² + 4² . What is the value of C? Yes, Alyssa." Mr Harper called.
Too tired to process I walked up to the board and wrote the solution.
"Yes that is correct. 5 is the answer."
Noticing the tiredness evident on my face, Mr Harper said "Miss Taylor could you please see me after this class?"
I groaned in frustration. Again, lack of sleep plus me don't go well.
The bell rang signalling the end of class. I got up from my seat and walked to Mr Harper's desk. I plopped down on the seat in front of the desk and stared at him.
"Alyssa.." He trailed off.
I raised my eyebrows signalling for him to continue.
"You're a smart girl. I know you are. I can see the potential in you. But you don't see to be working hard enough. Is something bothering you? Do you need me to slot you in to see the counsellor?"
I sighed and shook my head.
"Please at least try."
As if I'm not.
"You may dismiss now." He gestured towards the door.
I grabbed my bag and dragged myself out of class. I checked my schedule and realised I had History.
God dammit.
The second bell rang which meant I was late. Forget it.
I strolled to the bathroom and splashed some cold water onto my face. I wiped it with some paper towels and stared at the mirror.
My eyes were droopy. I had obvious dark circles and my outfit was basically my pyjamas. Something at the far corner of the mirror awakened my senses.
I moved close to the corner to try to figure the sudden appearance but I just could not decipher what it was.
I squinted my eyes to get a better look at it when the mirror suddenly shattered and fell apart.
Lets just say my heart literally jumped out of my chest. I stared at the broken glass laying in the sink.
How the hell did it happen?
Drops of blood fell one by one on the shattered glass. My finger felt wet as I pinched it together and glanced at it. After minutes only did I realise the blood was mine and a piece of broken glass was in my hand.
I immediately dropped it into the sink and ran out of the bathroom and straight to the nurse's office.
"Oh hello there." The nurse greeted politely.
"Hi." I tried to smile.
"Name?"
"Alyssa Taylor."
"Ah, you're the new girl." She smiled warmly.
I nodded. She observed my finger for a bit and cringed her eyebrows together.
"Oh dear. You seem to have some tiny shards of broken glass in your fingers. How did it happen?"
"I don't even know." I replied, lifeless.
She grabbed a pair of tweezers and slowly but carefully removed the tiny shards of glass. I watched as she applied cream on the wound before wrapping it up.
"Please be more careful, dear."
I nodded and smiled as I walked back out. The lunch bell rang. How many periods did I miss?
Joan came running out of her Calculus class and enveloped me into a hug. I patted her back awkwardly in response.
"Right. You don't like physical contact. I forgot."
Joan stared at my finger and back at me.
"Explain." She ordered.
"I don't even know myself."
Why did the mirror break?
What was the thing at the corner of the mirror?
Where did the piece of glass I was holding come from?
Why would huge pieces of broken glass leave tiny shards in my fingers?
Where did the blood come from?
