Suddenly, a splash of cold water sprayed on Ollie. Jumping out of bed he saw his daughter holding a bucket. How? What? Ah? Were the thoughts that sprang into his mind.
"My daughter is dead." He reminded himself as he tried to slow down his heart beat.
"C...C..Cara?"He stuttered.
"Yes Daddy. I'm sorry about the water. Mummy dared me to."she cheerfully said.
"But...but you... You were gone... You..you were d...d...dead."
Cara's face turned from the usual care free to confused and a bit terrified.
"What do you mean I was deady Daddy?"the toddler asked putting the bucket on the floor. As she said this, Zosia walked through the door and also displayed a worried expression.
"Our daughter isn't dead Ollie!"She said sternly.
"But..she was.. Meningitis, Connie and I performed CPR. We both were screaming.."
"That's never happened Ollie. NEVER!"Zosia shouted hugging her daughter.
Ollie grabbed his coat and his car keys and headed to the door. He needed answers. And fast.
