Raj showed up the next day around dinner time. He stumbled in shyly and keep staring at the floor. No wonder he wasn't one to usually get women. "Sit here with me." He shuffled to the couch, obeying like a trained dog. "So...what do you want to do?" I stared at him for a long time before I gave up on trying to get an answer. I turned on the TV to make some noise in the room. "Why can't you talk to me?" I should have known that I wasn't going to get an answer. I threw of piece of paper at him and a pen. "Can you write?" He shrugged. "Try," I urged him.
He picked up the pen I threw at him and wrote on the paper. Selective mutism
I looked at him and back at the paper and to him again. "What's that."
It means I can talk to anyone that isn't female until I'm drunk
"Why does it matter if you're drunk or not?"
I have no idea.
I sighed. "Isn't there anything I can do to help?"
Let me drink.
I looked at him. "No." I held his hand and started to rant. "Please, can't you try not to drink? For me? I don't like it when you drink. Even just texting, or this paper thing is better." I leaned on his shoulder and he patted the top of my head slowly. It might have been better if he was drinking. I wanted to drink just so I wouldn't have to think about it, but that was probably the wrong thing to do. "Raj, I'm going to sleep." Before I bothered to get out I was fast asleep on him.
