~Friday Afternoon~
Chase's POV
I had been debating most of the week what I wanted to do for my date with Lisa tonight. I mean dinner is always an option or going to the movies but I feel like that's boring. It's not like this is the first date that either of us have been on so I just want to go do something fun and different.
I decided that I would take her to this place I've always loved ever since I had moved here. There's no real name for the place but it's only open in the fall time. If there had to be a name for it I guess you would call it like a fall festival. It's a place with corn mazes, games, and they usually have some band there. They also have food stands and coffee places set up. And it's always decorated with lights that are hung up everywhere.
The reason I picked that place was because then there is a lot less opportunity that it would be awkward since we have stuff to do. It's also just a super fun and nice place to go. I love being there, it makes me happy in this child like way. I feel like that could also be good for Lisa since she's dealing with so much emotionally. Maybe to just go out and hopefully feel that happiness will help her.
I texted her earlier to wear warm clothes since we were going to be outside. I went to go get showered and dressed. I was trying to dress warm but still look nice. It might sound lame but I was actually kind of nervous for tonight. Normally when I go out with a girl, or when I'm attracted to a girl, it's strictly because of the way she looks. But with Lisa it was different. I definitely thought she was cute when I first met her but what stood out to me more than anything was the fact that she wore her heart on her sleeve. It was such an admirable quality. She was just so real and genuine. So this date wasn't really like any other date for me. I want it to go well so bad. I know not everything will work out perfect but I just want it to be a great night for both of us.
Once I had finally decided what to wear I threw on my outfit and went downstairs to grab my keys (See outfit above). Lisa was expecting me in about 15 minutes so I made my way out to my car to go pick her up. On the drive over I could feel nerves in my stomach. I don't know why I'm feeling this way. I've never cared this much about a date going well before.
I pulled up in her driveway and got out of the car to go knock on her door. I heard her yelling "I'm coming" as I waited outside. Once she had opened the door I saw her looking at me with a wide smile. I returned the smile and couldn't help but notice how nice she looked.Chase- "Hey! You look amazing."
Lisa- "Thank you. So do you!"
Chase- "Shall we?" I asked while gesturing towards the car.Lisa's POV
Woah Chase looked good. He always looks good but he looked really great tonight. We were walking out to his car and he opened walked to the passenger side to open the door for me.
Lisa- "Wow you are really on your A game tonight aren't you?"
Chase- "Only for you." He said with that flirtatious side smirk. As we were driving we kept the conversation going. There wasn't any awkward pauses like there normally are on most of the first dates I've been on. I knew we were going to do something outdoors but I wasn't sure where we were going for sure.
Then we pulled into park at this outside festival. It was super pretty from what I can see. We got out and walked in the gates to see everything that they had set up.
Chase- "Have you ever been to one of these before?"
Lisa- "No we don't have anything like this where I used to live. This is awesome!"
We first went to go and play some of the games that they had set up. I felt like me and Chase turned into little kids playing those games. It was so fun to just not care what everyone else thought. We just had fun and pretended like no one else was there.
Once we finished we went to go get hot chocolate and sit down at one of the tables.Lisa- "So how long have you been in Tennessee? You know some pretty cool places around here!"
Chase- "I've been here since I was 18. I knew it was cheaper to live out here and I had an opportunity to get into the fire department out here. So I moved and I fell in love with it so I never left."
Lisa- "So when did you meet Tahj and Derek?"
Chase- "Well I met both of them when I went through EMT certification and we just became really good friends. What about you? I know why you moved out here but do you miss California?"
Lisa- "For a while I did because all of my friends live in California. But I love it out here and so does my family. It's just different. It's not so superficial. I love California but I hate LA so I'm glad that I'm here. It's better that were in a place where we can just be our authentic selves. It was a good change for us."
Chase- "You're so different from anyone I've ever met." He said with a smile forming on his face.
Lisa- "How's that?" I felt myself smiling back.
Chase- "You're passionate and genuine. That's something that's really rare."
Lisa- "How are you okay with people saying you're not a good guy?"
Chase- "I don't know. I guess if people are going to judge me before they know me, then they didn't belong in my life anyways."
Lisa- "Can I ask you something? Why have you been helping me?"
Chase- "What do you mean?"
Lisa- "You're a guy who has gone through so much but even though you have had your own life to deal with, you still helped me with mine. You showed up out of no where when you knew that I had been going through a rough time. And you haven't even known me for that long. Why would you do that for me?"
Chase- "Because I never had anyone to help me. And I know that going through hard times is already difficult to deal with, but it's even worse when you're dealing with it alone. I wasn't going to let you go through something by yourself."I reached for his hand that was resting against his cup and held it. I just didn't understand how someone who didn't have a family could be so loving, when he never experienced that love for himself.
Lisa- "Im sorry people don't see the amazing heart you have. But just know that I do. I'm glad I do, because the thing that is actually rare is meeting someone that cares as much as you do."
He looked down at my hand that was still holding onto his and smiled. He looked back up into my eyes and gave me an appreciative smile.
The conversation after that was much more light hearted. We got up once we finished with our drinks and threw them away. We then made our way to the corn maze. The rest of the night all I could continue to think about was how much I liked him. Even though I knew him and he wasn't as mysterious and dangerous as I thought he was, he's so captivating because he is so different from everyone else I had ever met.
I run from the people I love. I can't do that this time. I don't want to mess this up. He's different. I don't want to run, I want to stay.
