Part 35

~1 week later~

Lisa's POV

I was over at Alex's house. She's been super distant and it's like she refuses to talk to me about anything. I wasn't going to bring it up when I first got there. But after an hour of being here it's become obvious that something is wrong. She isn't being herself. I think it's time I bring it up, so I could at least check on her.

Lisa- "Is everything okay? You've been acting different these past couple of weeks."
Alex- "Yeah I'm fine!" She put a fake face on that I could see right through.
Lisa- "Alex I know when there is something wrong with you. We've been friends for a while now it's getting pretty easy to tell."
Alex- "Nothing's wrong I'm all good! Don't worry."
Lisa- "You can tell me anything. You know that right?"
Alex- "I don't think people are meant to know everything."

I could tell that she didn't want to talk about whatever it was that was bothering her so we changed the subject. We were in her kitchen eating and joking around but I could see it in her that something was still wrong. I thought I'd see if she wanted to hang out later. Maybe it will take her mind off of things. Getting out of the house even when you don't want to and going to have fun always helps me.

Lisa- "So me and Chase are going to go bowling later tonight do you want to come?"
Alex- "No I don't think so."
Lisa- "Are you sure? It should be a lot of fun. You won't be the third wheel I promise! We won't make it awkward like that!"
Alex- "No I just don't want to tonight." Now I wondered if her and Chase went back to arguing.
Lisa- "What's up? I thought that you and Chase were on good terms now. Did you guys fight again?"
Alex- "No I just don't want to go okay!!" She started to get frustrated with me.
Lisa- "Okay sorry. I just want my best friend and boyfriend to get along and not hate each other."
Alex- "I don't hate him!" She was still mad. Her voice raised.
Lisa- "Then what's the problem?"
Alex- "I have feelings for him!"
My eyes widened because that was the last thing I expected to come out of her mouth. I could tell that she didn't mean to say it because she covered her mouth immediately after. In her eyes I could see that she wished she could take that back. I stood there in shocked silence.

Alex- "Oh my god Lisa. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean too say that. That's not what I meant." She stumbled on her words, talking fast.
Lisa- "Alex you can not be telling me this now! Is this why you've been avoiding me?!"
Alex- "I'm sorry I know that it's stupid but I can't be around the two of you! I hate being around you two together Lisa. I didn't even mean to say anything Lisa can we please just forget about this?"
Lisa- "You didn't mean to tell me but now you have to finish. Why did you start telling me? You obviously feel something about this otherwise you wouldn't have blurted it out."
Alex- "I don't know Lisa! I guess I'm telling you this because I don't want you to think that I just bailed out on your life. I'm so sorry."
Lisa- "Did something happen between the two of you?"
Alex- "No. He doesn't even know. You weren't supposed to know either. Lisa I'm so sorry."

I stood there still shocked at what she told me. How did this even happen? I know that Chase isn't interested in Alex but that doesn't make me feel any better. Alex was about to speak again but I stopped her before she could start.

Lisa- "Alex I just have to think for a while okay. I'm gonna go." I said trying to stay calm even though I had jealousy raging inside of me. I don't know why I felt jealous if nothing happened between them. I think it was just the thought that while me and Chase were broken up she could have been trying to get with him.
Alex- "Lisa nothing ever happened. And nothing ever will. It's just stupid. It will pass. Please don't let this ruin our friendship."
Lisa- "Look I'm going to go home and think for a while. You're my friend and I believe that nothing happened. But please for the time being stay away from my boyfriend. I love him. Please. Just stay away from him." I said feeling protective over our relationship.
Alex- "Lise I wouldn't do anything to ruin your relationship I swear to you."
Lisa- "I'm not saying that I doubt you but right now I just need space. And part of that space needs to be you staying away from him. Because I won't be able to think anything besides you having feelings for him if you are ever around him. So please just give us both space..... I'll talk to you later."I said walking out of her apartment.

As I shut the door behind me, my thoughts raced. She encouraged me to get back with him but she has feelings for him? I cringed at the thought of her even thinking about him in that way. I'm so crazy in love with him that it almost made me mad to think that she would have feelings for him. She's my best friend. Why out of every person, would she pick to fall for my boyfriend? Why did it have to be Chase?
