He patted the space next to himself and I slowly walked over and sat beside him.
He sighed and then sat up a little straighter.
"I'm originally from Spain, my family or rather pack resides there." His first words were rather normal until he bought up pack, a pack of animals?
Instead of questioning him, I waited for him to continue.
"I came here, looking for something, or rather someone." After this was said he looked into my eyes and I knew then he was talking about me.
"I'm a wolf, and wolves have mates, soul mates, I've waited so long for you, I mean mine." He tried to cover up the fact that he had declared me his mate, but the fact that he had, no matter accidental or not, warmed my heart.
"So we are soul mates?" The question had come from me. My love of romance books meant that I had been exposed to fantastical concepts such as werewolves and their mates, but the fact that it was now a reality, a reality where I was the main character, overwhelmed me slightly.
"Yes, when I first saw you, our souls connected and became one. We have a bond between us which is solidified by a ritual that will be done once we return to Spain, to my pack. We will then have the ability to communicate in our minds.
I had stopped listening after he had mentioned Spain, I couldn't move to Spain. Could I? No I wouldn't be able to afford it. I know how stupid that sounded, but had it not been for my poor financial situation, oh and my cousin I would have loved to go with him.
My thoughts came to an abrupt halt. What was I thinking, I didn't even know the guy. But I did. I didn't know what to think. Common sense wouldn't let me make into such an easy option or person to be with. But my heart and soul were telling me that it is what I always wanted, who I needed.
"We wouldn't go to Spain for a while yet of course as you are not familiar with my race and culture, also the fact that you hardly know me."
His calm words eased me. I had time to adapt, time I needed.
"There is one thing that had worried me though." At his words my heart froze, what was it? Was he wrong, were we not meant to be together? The last thought made my heart hurt, the idea if not seeing him ever again produced a physical ache in my chest.
"You think you are human."
This made my face take on a rather unattractive confused look. Of courses I thought I was human. I was one, wasn't I?
"Wolves are only able to mate with other wolves." Oh, that explains it. Maybe I was an anomaly. Lovella did constantly mention that I was one of a kind. Although, I had the strangest suspicion that she wasn't saying this to be nice.
"Are you aware of your parents?" I sat there for a minute, my parents were my parents, weren't they ? My mother never did have any pictures of me as a baby, but then again she was never the sentimental type.
The more I thought about it the more I was beginning to doubt my family. I didn't look like my mother or father. As a matter of fact the only person in my family that I looked like was Lovella.
"I don't know anymore." My voice was broken as I told him this. My past wasn't pleasant but knowing I could have had better really upset me.
Sensing my sadness, Ajax put his arms around me and pulled me close.
"We don't have to talk about all of this right now, but I promise you I will never hurt you."
Ajax comforted me by wrapping me up in the blanket that covered the bed and we lay down.
Not long after, Ajax left to go to sleep on the coach, leaving me cold and alone.
Before I knew it I was fast asleep.
I woke up to what's sounded like muffled arguing, when I lifted my head from the pillow the words became a lot more clear.
"We can't wait forever, you've left the pack for too long as it is." These words came from Tiago. Judging by the sound they were rather close to the closed door.
"I won't force her, it is not fair." Ajax responded, his voice gruff from what I assumed was anger.
"You are Alpha" at these words I sat up. He was an Alpha? From the little knowledge I had about werewolves I gathered that this was important, very important.
"Yes, but without her I am nothing." As these words were being said a fist slammed against the door making me jump.
He was talking about me.
I felt a twinge if guilt in my gut and I wasn't sure what for, but I remained silent not wanting to alert them that I was awake.
The door suddenly opened, once again making me jump, and Ajax walked in. He stopped suddenly after noticing that I was awake.
"You heard all of that, didn't you?" I didn't reply but nodded my head and he sighed in response.
He came and sat beside me an before I could stop myself I ended up asking what an alpha was.
He looked surprised at my question but answered it anyway.
"They say that when he is near you can't breathe because of the suffocating power he emits.
They say when you are in his presence you fall to your knees because of the intense domination.
They say when you mess with what is his, you pay the ultimate price.
Who is he?
He is me."
