Chapter 17;

Tallie p.o.v

I had gone over to Eric's flat to surprise him after work today. I had knocked on the door but he hadn't awnsered, so I dug out the key he had given me incase he ever wasn't in when I came over.

I had let myself into the flat, knowing he should be in but finding it seemingly empty.

I had just put my bag on the floor when I heard a female giggling. Shocked, I ran to the direction of the noise - the bedroom.

I burst through the door and saw Eric on the bed, wearing only his boxers with a blonde girl draped over him.

She was only wearing her underwear and they were kissing passionately.

"Eric?!" I screamed, not wanting to believe it. I was frozen in the doorway, staring through tear clouded eyes.

"Oh." He said, looking up at me. "Sarah, this is my girlfriend, Tallie. Don't worry, she means nothing to me anymore. Tallie, this makes it so much easier - for me, anyway. You're dumped. Close the door on the way out."

He was staring at me like I was the one who was intruding. "You weren't lying - she is ordinary, isn't she?" The girl wrapped around my boyfriend laughed, making me loose my self control.

I lunged for her, shouting "bitch" as she squealed in horror.

        ................................

I sat bolt upright, sweating, crying and shaking. I've only ever had a few nightmares, and they were when I was young.

This one was horrible. I looked over at Eric through cloudy eyes. He was just stirring from his sleep, so I must have woken him up.

"Tallie? You ok?" He groaned as he stretched, looking up at me through half lidded eyes.

"I-I-" I stumbled, unable to find any words. It was only earlier today that we had made up, but I guessed that the argument and the horrible ideas were still stuck in my mind, still tormenting me - telling me that I was just another fling.

"Tallie? My god, what's wrong?" He sounded worried as he sat up, reaching out to me.

I actually flinched, memories from the dream still stuck in my memory. Ignoring the flinch, he pulled me into a hug. "Hey, you can tell me."

He brought my head to his chest and began slowly stroking my hair, shushing me repeatedly and rocking us slightly.

"B-bad dream. S-sorry I w-woke you." I hiccuped. I tried to breathe, but it came out as more of a gasp.

"Don't worry about me - I'm more concerned about you." The feeling on my head was comforting, and after a few minutes, I was breathing normally again but was still shaking.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I nodded against his shoulder. His hand was still on my head, just placed, not moving and he had stopped rocking us.

I explained the dream to him, and he listened patiently to my rambling. "That's horrible, but you do know I would never do that, yeah?"

I nodded. "Course." I smiled up at him. He gave me his most dazzling smile in response. I settled on his chest, hearing his heart and sighing.

"Do you feel better?" he asked as he began stroking my hair again.

I nodded, genuinely feeing better. "Thank you." A kiss. "God, your tshirt is soaking, sorry." I apologised.

"Don't worry - I'll just take it off. Come on, it's late ... early? We should sleep now anyway." he chuckled slightly.

He pulled off his shirt and tossed it to the floor before we sunk down on the pillows, falling asleep soon after 2am.
