{Chapter 3}

I was sitting at my desk, doodling and listening to music, when a voice spoke.

"Watcha listening to, Pinky?"

"My name is Persephone, and I'm listening to AWOLNATION." I was used to the pink thing due to my magenta do.

"Eh, that's not my style. I prefer One Direction myself." Said the bubbly blonde who was now sitting on the corner of my desk and popping bubbles with her gum. I almost cringed when she had said this.

I remember when I used to be bubbly and happy....

Oh, yeah... I'm not really into that..."

"That's fine. I don't like your music either. My name is Ashleigh. Not spelled dumb and boring, but fun and entertaining." She then winked at me.

"That's... Sweet. I just moved here. You're the first person to even try talking to me. Thanks."

"No problem. Why'd you move HERE? I hate this school."

"Well, I was having troubles with the people At my old school honestly an-"

"Stop right there! You don't need to go on. I'll be your friend if you want. Or at least for this class." She again winked at me.

"Sure! That sounds great to me!"

The bell cut us off, but that was alright with me because I now had a friend. We may not even be similar but I didn't care. A friend is a friend.

That was our last hour of the day, so I collected my belongings and walked to my car. The copper color glistened against the sun. I always had wanted my car to be different from all others and it surely was. I had never seen another copper grand am in my life.

I unlocked my vehicle and climbed inside, sitting on my tiger print car seat cover. I set my jansport bag in the back and started my car. Just as I was about to leave something caught my eye. There were boys skateboarding in the back corner of the parking lot. Now I'd always found that type completely repulsive, but one of them looked oddly familiar.

Maybe it was the sweet grin, or maybe the outline of his face, but I swore that the boarder with the red hair was Rayle. Now that I think of it, that boy was in two of my classes. Yes, he sat two spots in front and one to the right of me in third hour health and next to me in sixth hour physics.

It sucks that today is Friday, because now I'll have to wait until Monday to see him again. Crud. Wait! I'm going to have my third tonight! I have to take my nap first, but then later tonight I'll have my third! I can see Rayle there and compare the two and determine from there whether they are the same person.

I watched as Possible-Rayle did a trick and landed it nicely then put my car in gear and took the 15 minute trip home.

I was on a stage singing. I had always loved to sing and honestly wasn't bad. I could carry a tune and had a nice ring to my voice. My outfit matched my personality and hair. I had a loose crop top on and a cute and non-revealing short-shorts. My low-rise converse were studded as were the bracelets on my arms.

I was singing my heart out to Recovery by Frank Turner and the crowd was cheering. All of a sudden my bracelets turned to ash. My scars started to show up on my skin. Each one glared red and started to bleed. The crowd before me roared. They booed and hissed, just beckoning me off the stage.

I ran. The feelings of embarrassment, pain, and anger had rushed into my body. As I was running away from the emotions and booing, I tripped over a wire. But the wire turned out to be a tree root. I started falling, but I never stopped and hit anything. I was expecting the cold, hard ground, but none came in contact with me. I was free falling. As I looked down, I made out what seemed to be jagged roots and glass.

If I was going to land, I was going to die. I was going to land in about three seconds.

Three.

Two.
