{Chapter 6}
I went inside our house and ran up the stairs.
"What're you in a hurry for?" Jake asked smirking.
"I need to shower! I smell terrible!" I called back to him down the stairs.
"Oh I know! I can smell you from here!" He said snickering. I shook my head. I would get him back later.
I walked into my bathroom and took off my clothes. I had a big bathroom for it not even being the master. I turned on the shower, and then my radio. I turned the lid off of my face scrub and rubbed it on my face. I put the facial scrub away and stepped into the shower.

I was now wearing regular blue skinny jeans and a sweatshirt. Cute and comfortable was usually what I went for. I absolutely love clothing and all accessories. I needed to hurry up though because my parents were expecting me downstairs.
My parents were terrific. They were always there for all of their children and were very supportive. Lately though, things hadn't been the greatest between them and I. My dad was actually fine with me, I think it was my mom who had the biggest problem. Ever since she'd heard of me cutting, I was like a foreign character to her. She seemed to yell more, or speak sternly. Everything I did seemed to be wrong even if I did my very best.
Anyways, I walked downstairs and listened carefully to my parents. They gave us the directions to taking care of Clara and went back over the regular rules. No phone. No answering the door. Those were the usual rules, but tonight it didn't matter. We were allowed to go to Redd's house and I was expecting the night to be memorable.

"Where are we going?" Clara asked sweetly as we walked over to our neighbors.
"We're going to a new friends house, Clara. They have a little girl there who likes My Little Pony as well. They have a big television downstairs and a playroom for you girls. You can watch My Little Pony with their little girl. Her name is Izzy." Jake informed Clara. He was good about not missing the little things when talking to her. It made things run a lot more smooth.
"Okay." she said nodding quietly. She had a way of being discreetly cute.
"I wanna ring it!" Clara shouted as she pushed the doorbell. There was no time for Jake or I to disagree anyways.
The door was opened, this time by a smaller boy. He was muscly, yet nerdy looking. It's was one of the most awkward combinations I've ever seen present in a persons characteristics.
"You must be Persephone?" he spoke with a much deeper voice than I had expected, but still was not below the usual depth.
"Uh, yeah. How'd you know?" I asked inquisitively. The boy wasn't there for our conversation earlier.
"My name is Parker. You're the only magenta haired "cutie" Travis had said was coming over. I'd hope he was talking about you." he said with a grin. He was quickly pulled away by Redd.
Redd had called me cute?
"Sorry about him," I thought I saw a little blush on his cheeks, "he was going to show Jake his room... Right, Parker?"
"Alright, alright. You can follow me Jake. It is Jake, right?" He asked leading Jake to his, what I assumed to be his, room.
"Yeah." I heard Jake say trailing after Parker.
"You must be Clara?" Redd asked, bending down to speak to Clara. She nodded her head in response, causing her blonde ringlets to bounce.
He smiled at her. "My name is Redd, my sister Izzy is downstairs waiting for you. The show is starting."
" I don't want to miss it!" She shouted in her squeamish little voice. She ran to the stairs and made her descent down them. This left awkward air between Redd and I. Then I heard something.
"Do I hear a Matthew Najar cover on narcissistic cannibal right now?" I said with my dimples showing no doubt.
"Oh yeah... It's nothing." He said with his voice trailing.
"Oh it's definitely something." I said with a smirk. I started up the stairs following the sweet sound of the bridge.
"Hey wait!" Redd called after me.
I stopped in front of his door. The sight had confused me. Though it was just a door, it really wasn't. It was a picture of a place dear to my heart. The creek made by paint looked alive as ever, swirling and swiveling in blue. The large tree stood high to the left of the moss covered rock that sat heavily next to the water. Across the creek sat the pretty meadow I was so familiar with.
"Di-... Did you.. Make this?" I quietly stammered. I looked at Redd who was standing close to me with his head down and rubbing his neck.
"Yeah... I did. I know it's stupid, but it's the first pretty place I found around here. This is what I was going to show you on our walk. This is right behind our houses on the trails." He was kind of awkward and not as smooth as Rayle, but I paid no attention to it.
"You've got to be kidding me." I stared at the painting, bewildered by the amazing strokes on the door. "This is amazing. You have no idea."
"Would you like to come in?" he said with his hand outstretched just like a true gentleman would.
"I guess if I have to..." I said with a wink. Why am I winking? I don't wink. I CAN'T wink. But it didn't matter at this point in time because it made Redd laugh.
Just as Redd opened the door we heard a scream come from the basement. By the sounds of it, it wasn't your ordinary 'There was a scary part in the show' scream. It was a 'something, or someone, is here that shouldn't be scream.
