{Chapter 4}
I woke up with a quick jolt. I had heard if you land in a dream where you're falling, you die. Well I had been lucky enough to wake up before I landed. Now that this nightmare was over, it meant my next dream was going to be a third. A third meant that I got to see Rayle and I could NOT wait for it.
I pulled a sweater over my scar ridden arms and popped downstairs. My family greeted me with warm smiles and dinner. We were having my favorite; meatloaf with special sauce. It was completely home made and totally tasty. It had a tangy twist throughout it. My little brother Jake insisted on boiled eggs though. He ate three of those and a slice of ham for dinner. At least he was eating.
After dinner I went back upstairs and did my homework. I turned on my MP3 player and tuned in to the glorious melodies of Bach. This was beautiful and made it easy for me to work. With homework done I walked into my bathroom and turned on the shower. When I got out I rubbed cocoa butter moisturizer over all my scars. I had to get them to at least fade a little somehow.
I paced back into my room, opening a dresser drawer along the way. I pulled out a maroon tank top with cream lace around the sides and slipped it over my head. Soon after a coffee colored pair of shorts were slipped on. Looking my worst, I collapsed into bed and pulled my worn out blanket up to my chin.
This was it. I got to see Rayle again tonight. He made my dreams so much better. I had recently been thinking about him more than my reality. He was just so... Him. I haven't felt anything in so long, but dreams with him in it made me feel alive. I could think about him all the time... But why do that when I could be with him right now? I turned off my nightstand light and shut my eyes. This dream could last forever.

When my eyes opened I was in a tree. This tree was not just any tree; it was a massive oak tree and I was standing near the top of it. I looked far out and saw a group of wild horses trotting through a patch of sand in the distance. Then I made the mistake of looking down. I had to have been at least 35 feet in the air. I was so shocked that I had taken a step back.
This step was to large, because now I was swiveling down to the earth below. I always seem to be falling in my dreams. Oh this was taking so long to reach the ground! I was gliding down and almost hit the bottom so I starting screaming a little.
Caught.
Rayle.
I looked up into those dull grey eyes of his just to see him pondering into mine. I put my arms around his brawny shoulders and nestled my head against his neck. That's when I felt them. The scars were coming back. I hurriedly looked down to my arms and thin legs to see them all reappearing. I looked up to Rayle, scared and confused, but all he did was smile.
He smiled at me.
After seeing my scars.
I looked down to his arms and saw nothing but clear skin. How could he even look at me after seeing my scars?
He walked us over to the same moss covered rock and set me down. He moved the magenta hair from my face and traced my chin with his finger. Looking down at me he smiled. That's when he did the unthinkable.
He sat down next to me and held my arm. He traced the scars on my body. Then Rayle leaned down. I pulled my arm away.
"What are you doing?" I said with a quaky voice.
"It's okay." He whispered and pulled my arm back towards him.
He leaned back over my arm and kissed a scar. What is he doing? This is beyond weird. But then I noticed what was happening to the scar. It faded. Right on the spot, the scar faded and disappeared. I couldn't believe what was happening.
"See? I wasn't going to chew your arm off silly!" He said with a wink.
I smiled at him, a true smile, and said, "Thank you, Rayle."
He smiled back at me and said, "My pleasure."
I hadn't noticed that all of my scars were gone, but they were. Rayle took my hand and pulled me up. He walked us through the forest we were in and into a meadow. We picked a spot in the middle and laid down together. Here we talked about everything for what seemed like an eternity, but I didn't care because we were happy.
Holding hands, Rayle looked at me and smiled. "I wish I was real, so I could be with you forever."
I looked back at him and said, "I wish I weren't real, so I could be with you."
"Can I tell you a secret, Persephone?"
"Of course you can Rayle." I tightened my grip on his hand.
"You make me feel real." He said.
That's when he leaned in and kissed me.
